Emotional vigil for Mexican naval cadets killed in Brooklyn Bridge crash

Vigil in Brooklyn tonight to remember the victims of the deadly Mexican naval ship crash from over the weekend

Despite the rain and the bad weather, dozens gathered here at the crash site to pay their respects

It was on Saturday when two cadets lost their life when the ship hit the Brooklyn Bridge

The Mexican community here in New York City is mourning the two young naval cadets killed

when the Mexican Navy vessel crashed into the Brooklyn Bridge. It's really heartbreaking, and, you know, it's indescribable

You know, the feeling, you know, obviously, you know, I don't know the crew

but, you know, you just can't help feeling bad for their families

The crash site filled with flowers, candles, and posters that read, You Are Our Heroes

Even flowers, roses, we brought, you know, a little bit of everything, candles, and, I mean, that's the best we can do

and it literally touches me. Of course, I see you get emotional

Yeah, a little bit, yeah, because, you know, kids, when you have kids I feel what the mother feels On Saturday the Mexican Navy ship was leaving New York City when tragedy struck I was visiting the New York City area you know bringing a positive message of you know

hope, peace, you know, for the world. And it's really tragic, really sad. More than 270 people

were on board. The ship was supposed to head south in the East River, but instead it reversed

towards the Brooklyn Bridge, picking up speed, colliding with the bridge. The NTSB is leading the investigation, the agency not speculating as to what could have

went wrong. There was a local harbor pilot on board helping guide the ship through the open waters of

New York Harbor. As the investigation continues, New York standing in solidarity with Mexico during this difficult time

People in Mexico that live in this city. has shown us how much you love your home country

and you love your adopted country, America. As you feel the pain, I know that boat

and those sailors with the pride and joy of their hometown in Mexico

Also at the vigil, the iconic Mexican band Los Tigres del Norte, who came to pay their respects
