Bolsonaro rejects coup d'état charges in testimony

Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro rejected charges of attempting a coup d'état to overturn the results of his 2022 presidential election loss to leftist rival Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Bolsonaro claimed he never acted outside the limits of the constitution, but another defendant said Bolsonaro had prepared to declare a state of emergency, while others suspected he had received cash intended to fund an assassination attempt against Lula.
