Lula says world must end dependence on fossil fuels as Brazil plans to ramp up oil drilling

Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Friday urged a rapid global transition towards clean energy saying the Earth could "no longer sustain" a reliance on fossil fuels at the COP30 climate summit in the Brazilian Amazon. Lula is presiding over the climate negotiations just weeks after his government approved new oil drilling in the Amazon region.
