From the heart of Bamako to the distant rural outposts of Mali, a siege has been unfolding over the years throughout the country. And so multiple crises are gripping Mali: a military government under pressure, jihadist forces with a deepening foothold, and a civilian population trapped in slow-burning turmoil.
