Aleppo schools universities remain closed following deadly clashes

In Aleppo, at least nine people were killed in clashes between government forces and Kurdish SDF forces on January 6. A defence ministry statement blamed the SDF for the civilian casualties, while the SDF accused the government of indiscriminate shelling in Kurdish-majority areas. Flights to Aleppo were suspended for 24 hours following the fighting, and schools and universities were closed.
