Croatia is Dubravnik, Split, Havar, and
0:03
the Plitvise lakes. Crystal clearar
0:05
Adriatic water, ancient walled cities,
0:08
and island hopping that rivals Greece.
0:11
But the summer heat is intense. The
0:13
fairies are long, and you are near water
0:16
every single day. Here are seven things
0:19
you need. Number one, swimming in the
0:21
Adriatic off Havar, cliff jumping near
0:24
Dubravnik, and exploring the waterfalls
0:26
at Plitvise Lakes. Your phone is near
0:28
water constantly. A waterproof phone
0:31
pouch lets you take photos everywhere
0:33
without risk. Number two, Croatian
0:36
beaches are rocky, not sandy, and you
0:39
will be at them every day. Hotel towels
0:43
are heavy and shared fairy towels do not
0:45
exist. Quick dry Turkish towels dry
0:47
fast, pack small, and work perfectly for
0:50
island hopping between Var, Brack, and
0:52
Cula. Number three, walking the walls of
0:55
Dravnik in July is brutal. The limestone
0:59
reflects heat and there is zero shade
1:01
for two hours. Gold bond friction
1:04
defense stick prevents the chafing that
1:06
hits when you are sweating through
1:08
everything on ancient stone stairways.
1:10
Number four, island hopping means full
1:13
days away from your hotel. Fairies
1:16
between Split and Var have limited
1:18
outlets and beach days have none. A
1:20
portable charger keeps your phone alive
1:22
for ferry schedules, maps, and sunset
1:25
photos. Number five, you are packing for
1:28
beach days, nice dinners in Dubravnik's
1:30
old town, and boat excursions.
1:33
Compression packing cubes let you
1:34
organize everything by activity and fit
1:37
it all in one bag for easy ferry
1:39
transfers.
1:41
Number six, Dravnik's narrow streets and
1:44
Splits Dialesian Palace are packed with
1:46
tourists. A small belt bag keeps your
1:49
phone, kuna, and ferry tickets secure
1:51
while you squeeze through medieval
1:53
alleyways.
1:55
Number seven, the catamaran from Split
1:57
to Havar and the ferry between islands
1:59
can get rough, especially in the
2:01
afternoon wind.
2:03
Drama mean less. Drowsy prevents the
2:06
nausea so you actually enjoy the
2:08
stunning views from the deck. Seven
2:10
things that make Croatia the
2:11
Mediterranean trip everyone is talking
