hey everyone welcome to filtergrade
0:04
today we're going through a quick
0:05
tutorial on how to change the speed of a
0:07
clip in premiere pro if you find this
0:09
helpful make sure to like this video and

subscribe to the channel
0:13
the easiest way to adjust the speed of a
0:14
clip is to right click on it and select
0:16
speed slash duration you can adjust the
0:19
speed at a flat rate by changing the
0:20
speed percentage or inputting a custom
0:22
duration
0:23
you can change the time interpolation
0:25
between frame sampling frame blending or
0:27
optical flow to smooth out the speed
0:30
change visually
0:31
optical flow creates new frames based on
0:33
existing data but doesn't always produce
0:36
the desired results so frame blending
0:38
also exists this method repeats removes
0:40
and blends frames as needed all of these
0:43
methods aim to fill in frames to
0:45
maintain smoothness
0:47
a similar but less precise method is the
0:49
rate stretch tool you'll find this tool
0:51
as an option under the ripple edit tool
0:54
with this selected simply drag the edge
0:56
of a clip to fill a space and the clip
0:57
speed will be adjusted to fit
1:01
time remapping is the most advanced
1:03
speed adjustment tool as it allows you
1:05
to create speed keyframes right click on
1:07
a clip and select show clip keyframes
1:10
time remapping speed
1:12
you'll now see a line stretching across
1:14
the clip although you may need to
1:16
increase the vertical size of the clip
1:17
in your timeline in order to properly
1:19
use and adjust it you can drag this bar
1:22
up or down to change the speed and the
1:24
clipped length will be adjusted
1:25
accordingly
1:26
to add a keyframe to it hold ctrl or
1:28
command while clicking on the speed line
1:30
dragging the line on one side of the
1:32
keyframe will only affect that side
1:35
to create a transition drag the left or
1:37
right side of the keyframe to the left
1:39
or the right which will create a
1:40
transition space you'll see a speed
1:42
curve with adjustable handles which lets
1:45
you adjust the speed change curve in
1:46
that transition zone
1:48
speed ramping is its own art and there
