Hey ladies and gentlemen this is Carmine Sabia for Explain America and something incredible
0:05
happened during the Paul Pelosi trial yesterday where the man who attacked him is on trial
0:11
basically for his life and the media kind of glanced over this part but I think it's
0:17
really important. Before we get started please make sure you like, comment, share and subscribe
0:23
Those little things really help us out and they help our channel continue to grow
0:28
Now let's start from minute one in saying the attack on Paul Pelosi was disgusting
0:35
horrific and nobody should approve of it. I don't care what your politics are to beat somebody with a hammer no matter what the
0:44
reason is for that unless they are attacking you, unless they are trying to murder you
0:51
and you're acting in self-defense which we've seen the video he was not acting in self-defense
0:58
To do what he did is horrific and he should be punished in my opinion to the fullest
1:03
extent of the law period. But the defense doesn't argue that he didn't commit the attack
1:12
You see it's on police body cam we saw him commit the attack
1:16
But the defendant David Tapope his defense team has shot down the narrative that he was
1:20
there because he hated Nancy Pelosi's politics. In fact any research into this man shows he was a far leftist
1:28
They've shot that down even though the Pelosi team still says that's what happened and they
1:34
say there's a different reason. Let's take a look. Pelosi taking the stand in federal court more than a year after the attack
1:45
David Tapope is accused of breaking into Pelosi's home and searching for his wife then House
1:50
Speaker Nancy Pelosi. While Pelosi testifying he knew he was in serious danger when he woke up and saw a man
1:58
with a hammer and ties standing near his bed. He recalled trying to stay calm and not agitate the intruder
2:05
He was able to get his phone but said he had to subtly signal to a 911 dispatcher he needed help
2:12
Is the Capitol Police around? No they're not. They're usually here at the house protecting my wife. He didn't tell me to put the phone down
2:16
And just do what he said. Pelosi testified Dapap was intent on finding Nancy calling her the leader of the pack
2:23
Dapap would later admit to investigators his true intentions that October evening
2:28
I was going to basically hold her hostage and talk to her and basically tell her what
2:35
I do. If she told the truth, that's where it goes contrary
2:39
If she didn't lie, that would be embarrassing. Eventually Pelosi told the jury he was able to convince Dapap to go downstairs right as
2:49
police arrived. Pelosi said he didn't know what would happen next. He said Dapap had a hammer in his right hand when he saw the police
2:57
So Pelosi tried to grab the hammer. That's when he says Dapap pushed him aside and hit him on the head
3:04
Pelosi said he remembered waking up in a pool of his own blood
3:09
His recovery, he says, is still ongoing due to a fractured skull
3:13
He's relearned how to walk and manage constant headaches and dizziness. Dapap is facing federal and state charges and faces decades in prison if convicted
3:23
Dapap's attorneys say that he did attack Pelosi. But this case is about the why
3:28
They argued that Dapap's motives are unrelated to Pelosi's official duties. It's unclear if Dapap will testify
3:36
Now that is cryptic. They're not saying what the why is, but they're saying there's a why and it has nothing to do with Nancy Pelosi's politics
3:45
That's a big story. I don't know what that why could be
3:49
Do you know what that why could be? I have no idea. I have no idea what it could be
3:55
But I would love to hear your comments on it. Let me know what you think it is in the comment section
