I don't think many people believe that Letitia James argued in good faith going after Trump

I don't think many people believe that she just saw a crime and she had to go after it

And the reason they don't believe it is her own words. Before she got into office

she said she was going to go find something to sue Donald Trump for

She said she was going to go after him. She said he would remember her name because she'd be suing him every day. Now how in this country somebody can target you

then go ahead and sue you, and then win? It's incomprehensible. They have weaponized the

justice system in the state of New York. And the thing is, liberals can cheer about it all they

want. But another state that is conservative can turn around and do this same thing. And we're

going to have a problem. And the problem is going to be that we are going to go after political

opponents like we're a third world banana republic. Democrats apparently don't see the

train coming on the tracks. We're trying to warn them, but they don't see it. And it's kind of the

same way it would be, honestly, if this was happening to a Democrat, and they'd be trying

to warn us, and we'd be celebrating it. Well, I wouldn't because I know better. I know that this

is bad precedent. But a lot of people would, let's be honest. Democrats don't see what's happening

here. Now, Alan Dershowitz and several other legal scholars believe that the excessive fine

and the fact that Trump has to pay the fine essentially to post bond before he can even

exercise his constitutional right to appeal this ridiculous decision. Well, they think that

violates the Eighth Amendment of the Constitution, cruel and unusual punishment. I want you to hear

what he has to say. And he's speaking for a lot. I've read a lot today, people talking about the

Eighth Amendment and talking about this is a violation. I want you to hear what he has to say

Time is running out. Former President Trump has less than one week to come up with more than $450

million. It's a bond he needs to post so he can appeal a civil fraud judgment he's facing in New

York as he also runs for president. Here's the National Desk. Christine Frizzell with a case

against him and why some legal scholars say the judgment is unconstitutional

How can you run for election and be sitting in a courthouse? His anger is palpable. Former

President Donald Trump running out of options, calling the ruling in his New York civil fraud

case a witch hunt and election interference. And that's why we must do everything in our power

But in a matter of days, New York Attorney General Letitia James may be able to start

seizing his assets, including Trump Tower, if he doesn't put up the cash. $454 million

by March 25th. More than 30 bond companies have already denied him the money. It's a fine some

legal experts say violates the Eighth Amendment of the Constitution. The amount is extremely

excessive. It violates the cruel and unusual punishment provisions of the Constitution that

include excessive fines as being prohibited. There was no damage done here. The judge just

made up this figure. Constitutional law professor Alan Dershowitz warns the impact could be a

chilling effect on others. You can't deny somebody the right to appeal based on lack of funds. That's

a violation of equal protection and a violation of due process. Some have also called the case

politically motivated since Attorney General Letitia James ran on the promise of going after
