Judge McAfee has issued his decision. It was long awaited. It is something Trump asked for, see, because Kenneth Chesbrough and Sidney Powell, they

requested a speedy trial to begin in five weeks in October. Well DA Fannie Willis said, if you get a speedy trial, everybody gets a speedy trial

All 19 defendants, including the former president will start in five weeks

Trump's people and a lot of other defense people said, well, we're not asking for a

speedy trial. We're waiving our rights to a speedy trial. Judge Scott McAfee made the decision today

The cases will be severed. Trump will have considerably more time as will his other co-defendants

What the judge said was anybody who does not waive their right to a speedy trial will start

in five weeks. Trump has already waived his right to a free, speedy trial, so he's in the clear

He's ready to go. Now, let's take a look at the official report coming from CNN

All right. Breaking news out of Fulton County, Georgia. By the way, you're looking at live pictures from inside the courtroom now before Judge

McAfee in the election subversion case there. We just learned that the cases have been severed

There will be separate trials, one that begins in just five weeks for the two defendants

about to appear before the judge in this pretrial hearing. Again, you're seeing live pictures of that right now before our eyes

But Donald Trump and the rest of the co-defendants will be tried separately and later

Let's get to CNN's Zach Cohen for the details on what we are learning so far this morning, Zach

Yeah, John, the top line here really is that Donald Trump will not be starting his trial

in Georgia in five weeks alongside two, at least two of his co-defendants, Sidney Powell

and Ken Chesbrough. Now, Trump and 16 others who have said that they don't want a speedy trial

You know, the judge made clear here that they can basically prolong this out a little

bit longer than the other two who did request a speedy trial. So this is really the first break in this sprawling conspiracy case in Georgia

The district attorney, Fannie Willis, has held the position since the beginning that she wanted to try all 19 of these co-defendants, including Trump, together

The judge today making clear, though, that that won't be happening. Now we still have two groups of co-defendants in this case

So it'll be interesting to see if there are additional breaks going forward. Now, this order also, though, does get the process moving for Trump and the 16 who will

not have to go to trial starting in October. So it's really sort of the initiation of the legal process as far as Trump and the 16 go

in Georgia, but also making clear they will not have to stand trial alongside Sidney Powell

and Ken Chesbrough. And there you have it. Great news for President Trump

Horrible news for Fannie Willis. This is a blockbuster. It's a game changer

It is a shakeup of this entire trial, and it's a great day to be former President Donald Trump
