Former President Trump is not whistling Dixie. He's not making false promises

that he's not going to keep. He wants to protect American jobs

He wants to protect the American car industry. He wants to protect American steel

He wants to protect the American manufacturing industry. That's been so brutally neglected

And now with the rise of AI and automation to do a lot of jobs, it really, really can damage the job prospects of those that want to work in that field

To that end President Trump has promised 1 promised that he will slap tariffs on Chinese imports as president Now this has I not a big tariff fan I be honest with you

I do believe in free trade. However, what Trump is saying is correct, and his reasons for the tariffs are correct

And it's because it's reciprocal. He wants to hit them with the same exact tariffs they hit us with

You take the tariffs off us. We take the tariffs off you. It's pretty simple

He just wants a fair playing field. That makes sense to most people. If China's putting 100% tariff on something that's being important, right

Then wouldn't we also put 100% tariff on something that's being imported

Look, I'm not an economist. That's not my stock and trade. And maybe an economist knows better than me why this is not a great idea

But for me, it just seems like common sense. You do it to me

I do it to you, and everything's fair. You stop doing it to me. I'll stop doing it to you

and everything's fair. I want you to hear what the former president had to say about it

But we will implement further protections for critical industries that are fundamental

to our national interests and those include, above all, steel and the car industry. The car industry

is critical to us. We can't fight a war if we can't make cars and trucks and engines and

transmissions and drive trains. Surrendering our car industry is not an option. We have to

make our car industry brilliant again. We have to make it bigger. I'm going to make it bigger

than it was ever before. Now, I'm going to make it real, very quick it's going to go, but

But to bring it to that level, I guess I'll need a little more time, but I won't have that time

But I'm going to have, I'm going to hand it over to people. We going to we going to make this country so strong and it going to be so much easier to run And I think we going to end up actually having a lot of support from the other party I really believe that I think it too basic It too basic

So as I said, China is currently building gigantic auto plants in Mexico

and they think that they're going to sell all of these cars into the United States

which would destroy Michigan, totally destroy your state. But it's not going to happen

Not going to happen. even close. They might as well stop building the damn plants. They are giants. Sure, you really have

to see them. I said, I don't want to see him. I will impose whatever tariffs are required, 100%, 200%

a thousand percent. They're not going to sell any cars into the United States with those plants

They're building them close to our border so that they can have easy shipping because they used to

having stupid people to deal with. We're not going to let it happen. Those jobs are coming back

to Michigan and they're coming back to other states and they're coming back to our country

and they're going to make America great again. That's it
