and Letitia James' woes keep getting worse. She thought she was going to hurt Trump. She's hurting herself

Those little things really help us out, and they help our channel continue to grow
0:20
That is my belief and the belief of many others that Letitia James' ultimate goal
0:25
The reason she brought this ridiculous case against former President Donald, Trump to begin with is because she wants to be a governor or senator in the state of New York
0:35
someday. However, it started to appear that James has hurt her own brand far more than she's
0:42
hurt Trump. In fact, Trump keeps rising in the polls, and the more of this that's done against
0:47
him, Trump is actually doing better with voters. James, on the other hand, may be responsible
0:53
for the downfall of business in New York single-handedly. Now, one Florida real estate mogul who
0:59
who backs Letitia James. He is a Letitia James supporter. He was also a bundler for former President Obama
1:07
a real estate mogul in Florida. He says, this case should have never been brought it
1:14
he says James is doing irreparable harm to businesses in New York
1:18
And this is a guy, again, he's a supporter of Letitia James
1:22

I'm Carmine Sabia for Explain America. We love you guys. God bless you
1:36
Take care, everybody. All right, Don Peebles, in case you don't know me, he's a very big player in the Democratic Party
1:42
a very close advisor to presidents past and present, including Barack Obama with whom he was quite close
1:49
But he doesn like what he seeing right now out of New York Attorney General just James And one of the things that he has mentioned about Letitia James is the fact that well he thinks he a good attorney general I believe that is still his view
2:01
I think now, Don, you think that she's going too far on this, you know, give us more than $4 to $50 million
2:09
And if you don't, we start selling buildings. What's your worry? Well, I think that's gone very far
2:16
I think that she's made a mistake. I think this whole case against Trump, it's a victimless case that should never have been brought
2:23
And had it not been him, it never would have been brought because they've never brought a case like this before against any other business or business person
2:32
And so I think that that is an example of why Trump continues to rise in the polls because they are making him into a martyr
2:40
Now, the commercial real estate impact is real. I mean, if Donald Trump does have to start selling buildings
2:48
or putting up collateral based on those buildings and apparently can't even do that
2:52
That could make a tough situation in this city worse, couldn't it
2:59
Absolutely it could. I mean, already New York is perceived as being very difficult to do business in essentially an anti-business environment
3:08
And during the pandemic, there was a mass exodus out of New York City to places like Florida and Texas
3:14
This amplifies, this case amplifies that is very difficult to. to do business in New York. And if you happen to be a successful, wealthy entrepreneur
3:22
watch out because the government can be used to weaponize you, especially if you get out of
3:27
line and do something that the far left doesn't like. They will not hesitate to use the legal
3:34
system to disrupt your business or worse, to put you in jail
3:39
Do you think that is why a number of companies businesses and rich guys in and around the city are holding them off giving any money to Donald Trump to help him out because they afraid they become targets Well I think that there a hesitancy to speak out on this issue because they don want to suffer the consequences or perceive consequences of doing that
4:03
I think more that, I mean, this is a business problem, not a political problem to Donald Trump
4:09
And I don't think his supporters would see that this is a action that they should step up
4:16
to do to help him with his bond because it's solving a business issue. So he has to solve this
4:20
issue on his own, and hopefully he will. But I think if you look what's happening in Florida
4:26
for example, Poulson is having a big fundraiser for him very shortly where the ticket price is up to
4:32
$800 and some odd thousand dollars and it's sold out already from what I understand. Yeah, you're
4:38
talking about, this is a big billionaire investor. Let me get your sense done then. You know
4:43
Letitia James, have you ever talked to her and say, you know, love you dearly, but this
4:49
is going to kill the city. This is going too far. There's got to be some middle ground
4:54
Any conversations like that? No, look, I've been a long-term supporter of hers because she's been an advocate
5:00
of small women and minority owned businesses since she's been on the city council
5:05
And she continues to do that. I have expressed concern that I think
5:09
that this is a very slippery slope to selectively enforce. an archaic law that has got no victim
5:16
Do you think she went too far here, in other words, that this is wiping out whatever gain she has
5:21
She does seem to have it out for him, whether you agree or disagree with this whole civil suit in the
5:26
first place. It's unprecedented. We've never seen it used, and certainly of this magnitude, and then putting up the same size
5:33
punishment as collateral or upfront bond money going forward. It's like a double whammy
5:39
It seems crazy. Yeah it does frankly if she confident in her case she should let the former president take up his appeal without trying to impede his ability to do that and not to rush to seize his assets
5:54
And why is she that? You're a good business, and why is she? I mean, is she thinking he's a flight risk
5:59
He's the most recognized face on the planet. He's running for the highest office in the land
6:04
He can't hide in a Luxembourg cave. So what is she worried about that if he is, you know, ultimately fails in this appeal attempt, that, you know, he'll have to pay up
6:17
Bottom line, it's a civil matter. He becomes President of the United States. Oh, I don't think it's about his ability to pay
6:24
I don't think they think of him as a flight risk. So it's a vendetta
6:28
It can only be a vendetta, right? No, yeah. And Neil, I think they are confident or they think it's likely that this will get reversed
6:36
And then there will be no punishment. So they're rushing to inflict as much pain on him as they can right now, because once the appeals court puts an end to this, then there will be no repercussions
6:48
in this case would have been brought for not. So to disrupt his business, disrupt him now, distract him from the campaign, that's the tactic
6:58
That's the goal. And that's why I think this is so wrong. I think if they felt they had an legitimate issue here, and there was a loss, if Deutsche Bank lost $400 million, then yes, bring it on, especially if $400 million in the taxpayers had to suffer any kind of consequences for that, but not this
