I'm going to try to not say the name of the assailant in the Georgia School Massacre because I don't think his name deserves to be said
0:43
He was in court today and just was stone cold. Just yes sir, no sir
0:49
But he seemed like a normal, frightened 14 year old kid in court, right
0:56
Normally a 14 year old kid would be frightened in court and that's how he seemed. Facing charges that he'll probably never see the light of day outside of a jail cell again and that's appropriate
1:06
I would even take the punishment further than that but the state of Georgia doesn't allow that because he's under 18
1:15
Which I think is insane because he committed the crimes. These are adult crimes. He's being charged as an adult
1:22
That being said, rotting the rest of your life away in a prison cell I would imagine is pretty horrible
1:31
But the new news, well other new news I should say, his dad has been charged with second degree, I can't say the word, second degree taking of lives
1:47
You have to be careful of the words you say on here. And I think it's appropriate
1:54
As Wolf Blitzer points out on CNN, a shocking decision by the parents
1:59
I want to lay this out for you. The FBI informs local authorities that this kid is talking online about committing a massacre at a school
2:10
Local authorities go to the parents, go to the dad and they say look, this is what your son is saying online
2:17
The kid says, was it me? I don't know, somebody got into my account, whatever
2:21
I guess the dad believes him. The dad then, even if you believe your son, this is a crazy decision
2:29
The dad then purchases a firearm for his son as a Christmas gift after being talked to by authorities
2:40
And then he commits this atrocity. And I want to say the men and women of the FBI, the local law enforcement, the school resource officer, the teachers, the school, everybody actually did the right thing here
2:52
Everybody actually followed the book and did it correctly. And this still happened
2:58
And in my opinion, if not for the negligence of this father, those four people are alive today
3:04
I believe that. Could this kid have stolen a firearm somewhere? Yeah
3:09
But you made it simple for him. You made it something that was easy and simple for him to do
3:18
You bear the responsibility, in my opinion, as a parent, you bear the responsibility
3:22
You knew. It's not like you didn't know. You knew. And you ignored
3:27
The responsibility now does fall on you as well, in my opinion. But I would love to know what you guys think
3:33
So please let me know in the comments after you watch this report
3:37
The school shooting has been heartbreaking for many, especially those who knew the victim
3:42
14-year-old students Mason Shearmohorn and Christian Angulo. Why would you just shoot innocent people that you don't even know
3:50
He's actually like a sweet person. Teachers Christina Remy and Richard Aspinwall, a former football coach
3:57
He had a wife and kids, and that's just so wild to me now that I talked to him that morning
4:02
And he said he liked my shirt, and now I just never talked to him again
4:06
One student telling us she feels unsafe to return to school. Every time I walked into school, I never thought anything would happen to me
4:13
Like, that's honestly a place I've honestly felt protected. Now I don't even want to be in the hallways alone
4:20
Yeah, well, if you could understand how tough this is on the kids. And all day long we've seen hundreds of people arriving to this flag out in front of the school to pay their respects to the ones who were lost here
4:29
Once again, us bringing you that breaking news that it's believed the father purchased this weapon as a holiday gift
4:35
Heartbreaking for so many in this community. A holiday gift for his son. What a decision that was
4:40
All right, thanks very much, Ryan Young, reporting for us
