One of our favorite Republicans in the Congress, Representative Thomas Massey of Kentucky
0:36
his wife suddenly passed away this week and it was an absolute tragedy
0:42
Mr. Massey took to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, where he made the heart
0:48
wrenching announcement and he went on to share pictures, photos, stories of his wife
0:57
and their family. And I'm not ashamed to say it was, it was, it brought a tear to my eye
1:02
It was a heart tugging thread. And you know, Massey's a really great man and his family, you know, great people
1:11
And when a tragedy strikes like this, it's times like that, that you see Republicans
1:15
and Democrats actually come together. You saw what happened with Steve Scalise when he came back to Congress and Republicans and
1:22
Democrats greeted him. And it's, it's part of what makes America, America
1:27
It's the America I know and love. It's the America that goes beyond partisan politics, goes beyond, you know, our differences
1:35
and what divides us. And we look at the humanity, the humanity that unites us
1:42
We see it after natural disasters or man-made disasters. And we see it in moments like this, when even the most bitter enemies in Congress can come
1:53
together as they did in this video clip I'm about to show you
1:57
It harkens back to a time in America when there just wasn't so much vitriol, so much
2:03
anger, so much pointing to each other as the enemy. It was a time when there was some decorum and that's what happened here
2:12
And I want you to see it because it represents in a tragic time, in my opinion, what is the
2:18
best of America. So please watch this video and then please leave your thoughts and your prayers for the
2:25
Massey family in the comments. Mr. Speaker, we were all saddened to learn today of the passing of the spouse of one
2:36
of our members, Thomas Massey, the gentleman from Kentucky. His wife, Rhonda, of many years, they were childhood sweethearts, she suddenly passed
2:46
away yesterday. Mr. Massey had to drive home to Kentucky and be home with his family, which is where he
2:51
is today. I would ask everybody in the chamber and everybody around the complex to please rise and observe
2:59
a moment of silence and offer your prayers and thoughts and condolences for our good
3:03
friend from Kentucky
3:30
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Thank you. Thank you.
