Hey ladies and gentlemen, this is Carmine Sabia for Explain America and the news is just continuing to break at Fox News
0:07
A lot of things happening today. It has been a whirlwind of a day
0:11
Before we get started, please make sure you like, comment, share, and subscribe
0:16
Those little things really help us out and they help our channel continue to grow
0:20
Now you guys may have heard earlier today that Rupert Murdoch, the head, the giant of Fox News
0:27
the man who brought Fox News to the masses and made it the number one rated cable news network in history
0:35
is stepping aside as the CEO. He's become Chairman Emeritus and his son Lachlan Murdoch is taking over as the Chairman
0:44
However, there's more news coming out of Fox News. Longtime host Brett Baier, who just recently hosted the Republican primary debate, has been extended
0:56
His contract has been extended through 2025. And it's interesting because a lot of people, as soon as they heard Brett Baier news, they're like
1:03
oh, he's fired because we've heard so much from Fox News recently about their talents either getting axed, getting 86ed
1:10
leaving on their own, that as soon as you hear one of their names, you're like, oh, he's fired
1:15
But no, it's the opposite for him. He will be staying with the network through at least 2025
1:20
So congratulations to Brett Baier. That's a big victory for him. And, you know, I think at least some positive news for Fox News
1:28
Now, there have been rumors going around that Fox News, in the hands of Lachlan Murdoch, some people have speculated
1:36
would actually wind up selling. And one of the names I've heard bandied about was they would sell to Elon Musk
1:43
I don't know if Elon has that kind of capital on his own after the purchase of Twitter
1:51
Obviously, he has the money, but you're talking about a lot of money for Fox News
1:55
I couldn't imagine what the price tag on that network would be. It's, again, the most popular, highest rated cable news network in the country
2:04
I can't imagine it would sell for anything resembling affordable. So, you know, of course, Elon can afford it
2:15
But does he want to leverage that kind of those kind of assets in order to have the liquid funds to purchase Fox News
2:22
It's it's it's it's very complicated. And, you know, will Fox News sell
2:27
I can see that happening. I absolutely can see it happening. I think if they did, it would be to a company like maybe a Comcast or something like that
2:38
But they don't have to. They're making tons of cash. They certainly don't have to sell anything if they don't want to
2:44
They have the best talk, the best show hosts in the country, the highest rated show hosts
2:49
They have the highest rated shows. They bring in the most ad revenue by far
2:53
They're not they're not hurting for money. They're well into the black
2:57
They don't have to sell. But I could see Lachlan, you know, being the guy that's like, hey, you know what
3:03
I don't want to do this the rest of my life. I'm going to sell this, retire, be done with it
3:08
I could see that happening as well. It's an interesting time for Fox News, definitely
3:13
So it is good to see Brett Baer getting extended. I think he does a really good job of being a fair and impartial journalist
3:19
And I think that is important. I know a lot of times we just want to hear our side of the argument
3:24
But fairness is important and getting the real news is important. Brett Baer is a guy that delivers that on a consistent basis
3:33
He's not in the opinion business. He's in the news business. And I have a lot of respect for him for that
3:38
And I think he did a great job at the Republican debate. At least made it interesting. It was hard to be interesting without without Donald Trump there
3:45
And Trump will also not be appearing on the next debate. We just learned that he's he's avoiding the next debate as well, which, again, I still think is smart
3:54
There's no reason for him to be there. He doesn't need to be there
3:59
He's winning by a lot. He has zero to gain by showing up for the debate
4:04
It doesn't make sense. So that's my opinion on this. Again, congratulations, Brett Baer
4:09
Are you guys happy to see him staying? Are you fans of Brett Baer
4:13
Do you just want opinion stuff? Do you not want, you know, fact-based journalism
4:17
Do you really just prefer some people just prefer the punditry and the opinions
4:22
That's fine, too. Are you one of those people? Let me know in the comments
4:26
Also, please remember to like, share and subscribe because that really helps us out
4:30
Again, I'm Carmine Sabia. This is Explain America. We love you guys. God bless you. Take care, everybody
