Hey ladies and gentlemen, this is Carmine Sabia for Explain America, and the news is in
0:06
There is a trial date set for President Donald Trump, but is it good news or bad news
0:11
Well, that's going to be kind of up to you guys and up to the legal system
0:16
Before we get started, please make sure you like, comment, share, and subscribe
0:20
Those little things really help us out and they help our channel continue to grow
0:25
So the trial date has been set by Judge Eileen Cannon, and what she did, I think from a
0:30
legal standpoint, makes sense. It's very hard to say, you know, she's favoring Trump or she's, you know, because that's what
0:37
they're trying to do. They're trying to get her in a position where she's favoring Trump, get her off the case
0:42
What she did was she basically split the baby. So prosecutors wanted the trial to start December 2023, so that's right around the corner
0:51
Team Trump said that's too soon. We want it to start after the 2024 presidential election
0:57
Now, of course, prosecutors said that's way too far, and you know, we're treating him
1:01
special if that's the case. So she set the date, May 20th, 2024
1:07
Here's where it's good news for President Trump. It comes after the Republican primaries
1:13
So all other cases, New York, if Georgia brings a case, all other cases are going to be on
1:19
hold until after the federal cases. So starting in May 20th gives him, on May 20th, 2024, gives him the room to do his primary
1:28
campaign unimpeded. Here's where it could be bad news for Trump and the Republicans, unfortunately
1:36
If Trump is convicted, so say the trial date starts May 20th, so you get to May, you get
1:41
to June, you get to July. Let's say he's convicted August 2024 and he's found guilty
1:49
We're only a couple months away from the presidential election, and now we don't have a candidate
1:53
because he may be not legally able to be president at that point, and the Republicans would not
1:59
have a candidate, and you could not bill the candidate quick enough to take that spot
2:05
This would be almost like election interference, but via the legal system
2:12
So it's not illegal, but it's hard to determine another way of framing that other than election interference
2:20
The Republicans would not have a viable candidate in time, and Joe Biden would basically walk
2:26
into the White House. Now, I think this case is flimsy, and I think that, I personally think, this is just a matter
2:32
of opinion. I'm not a legal expert, didn't do a day of law school, but this is my personal opinion
2:37
as a layman just looking at the evidence and listening to experts
2:41
I believe with the particular jury he's going to have, too, in a very red county there
2:46
that it's very likely Trump will actually beat this case, and that would catapult him
2:52
I believe, in the election. And that would, you know, it would show people that what he was saying about this being a
2:58
witch hunt was true. If they then tried to scramble the next case to get it before the election, I think that
3:05
would really show what this actually is. The problem, though, does become that Trump is going to have to campaign for the presidency
3:13
provided he wins the Republican nomination, during the time of the trial
3:17
So there's a lot of moving parts here. I think, overall, I think this is good news for Trump because, overall, I believe he's
3:24
going to beat this case. But I want to know what you guys think
3:28
Overall, is this good news or bad news for Trump? Let me know in the comments
3:32
Also, again, please like, share, and subscribe. Again, we really appreciate it, and it helps us so much
