Senator Johnny Tucker has died. He is a Kentucky state senator, and it's just a very sad story

He's a friend of Mitch McConnell's, and he's done incredible work in the state of Kentucky

for the Republican Party, but also just for the people of Kentucky at Lerner

People are remembering the life of state senator Johnny Turner. He died Tuesday at the age of 76

He'd been in the hospital after a serious lawnmower accident last month. Turner was known for his advocacy on issues like the coal industry and his deep commitment to his community

Lawmakers remember him as a passionate champion for eastern Kentucky. That's how I'll always remember him

He's just somebody that when he believed in something, he fought for

and he fought for our people and he fought for the mountains. Senator Turner's name will still be on the ballot for the general election

His opponent recently withdrew, but his name will still be on the ballot as well

Neither's votes will be tabulated if no write-in candidates receive votes, and a special election will likely be called next year

Republican Randy Thompson has announced his candidacy as a right-in for the seat

He lost to Turner in the primary. In a social media post, Thompson said
