After Ratings Collapse And Host Changes - CNN Closes Its Doors In Atlanta

They are closing their doors in Atlanta, finished, kaput, done. We have the story here, and we have the announcement here

CNN has suffered disastrous ratings in recent times. They've gotten rid of Don Lemon, they've gotten rid of Chris Cuomo, they've gotten rid of their CEO

They've gotten rid of so many people, and the ratings continue to crater and crumble

They've created a whole new primetime lineup, of who I think are really good anchors actually

But I think they've lost the trust of the people, and when you lose the trust of the people, it's hard to get them back

And so because of that, even the new primetime lineup, which is pretty good if you've watched it

is suffering. Is it Fox News? No, it's not Fox News. But it's not as biasly, blatantly liberal as it used to be

It's nothing like the Don Lemon days. You know, it's definitely more centrist

You could still see the liberal leaning, but it's nothing like the Don Lemon days

That being said, for obvious reasons, they're now closing their building in Atlanta

I want you to take a look at this video, tell me what you think. Before we go today, we are marking an important moment today in CNN's history

Today's show will be the final broadcast from the CNN Center in Atlanta

We're actually going to show you a live look outside the CNN Center in Atlanta

See the big CNN signs there. We anchor the show out of New York, but the control rooms of this show and much of our editorial staff has always been in Atlanta at that iconic building at the CNN Center

All also known as CNN's World News Headquarters. Starting Monday, our team there will move to a new home just a couple of miles away

But it's actually the new home is actually the place where CNN founder Ted Turner started the network back in 1980

I'm going to show you what CNN looked like on its first broadcast from the CNN Center

This is Daybreak, Monday, July 13th, with Donna Kelly and Brian Nelson from CNN Center in Atlanta and Reed College in Washington

That's amazing. As our team says goodbye to the CNN Center, here is a live look at the warriors behind the scenes, our control room team and a few others

We actually need two control rooms to get this fantastic behemoth of a show on the air every day

But you see everyone now crowded into one. And is that is that Jack Womack in there, too

For the final hurrah, a moment to mark in CNN's history. Onward and upward, team

It's great to see you guys. It's really the only time I ever get to see them, by the way. Thank you so much for joining us

This is CNN News Central. Inside politics is up next. Now, they say they're moving just because, you know, that building is outdated and they needed something new

But I think the crime in Atlanta probably has something to do with it, too. Do you want to go to work in a place that has rampant crime

The area around that building, it has been crime ridden for a long time

Of course it has. It's been run by Democrats. When Democrats run a city, they usually run it straight into the ground

And that's what happened in Atlanta, just like so many other big cities. And now CNN, which is their most famous tenant, really, is moving

And that's going to probably hurt the economy over there in Atlanta a lot. I'm very curious to know what the next steps are for CNN

Is this cost cutting move because their ratings are cratering? Because they're making less ad money

Are they trying to get a cheaper building? You know, what's going on there? We don't really know the answers, but they're trying to play it like it's a really good thing and it's a happy announcement

But I don't know. I kind of see through it. I want to know what you guys think
