Introducing my new podcast series - Ecopreneur Club. Join me as I chat with a community of #recyclers, #restorers, and #collectors to share lessons learned from running their eco businesses.
EP 1 - Sourcing eWaste volume - what’s the biggest bang for your buck?
In this episode, former Air Force member turned eWaste recycling entrepreneur Dylan Pruitt takes a candid look back into his journey into the world of eWaste, while sharing some hard lessons learned about sourcing along the way:
1. Don’t underestimate the power of social media - the easiest way to start getting small amounts of eWaste can be through social media ads or buy sell trade groups
2. The real money makers in eWaste are desktops, servers, and even laptops for reselling, and on the scrap metal side, anything non-ferrous (aluminum wheels from auto bodies, electric motors)
3. You don’t want to take on every job and you don’t want every person as your client. Sometimes it’s more of a hassle than what it’s worth. Getting specific information is important - so you know exactly whether the items have high value, what tools to bring, and what your labor costs are.
Dylan has over 7 years experience in the eWaste industry, beginning his career with his eWaste recycling business Capital Gains. He's currently the Vice President of Adonis.
