It Smells Better Than It Taste — a quiet coffee newsletter where I share what I'm learning about coffee, curiosity, and daily rituals. This channel is an extension of that space: https://www.itsmellsbetterthanittaste.com/ Believe it or not, this is another grinder. And yes, I already have the 1Zpresso ZP6, which is a clarity monster and one of the best pour over grinders I've used. So why buy the K-Ultra? Because the ZP6 has a profile, the way every grinder has a profile, and I wanted to see what happens when a single hand grinder tries to cover everything instead. The 1Zpresso K-Ultra is the jack-of-all-trades: pour over, French press, Turkish, espresso. In this video I open the box, get my first look at the dial and the click range, and then immediately put it to work on a Hario V60 with a decaf I already know well, because a coffee you know is the fastest way to hear what a new grinder is doing. Simple recipe, 30 second bloom and two pulses to 150 grams, brewed in under two minutes, with a TDS reading at the end. I don't have a dog in this fight. I bought this so I could tell you the reasons it works and the reasons it doesn't, and let you decide where it fits. Full unboxing of the 1Zpresso K-Ultra, including the air blower, travel bag and magnetic catch cup Why every grinder has a sweet spot, and why most of the settings outside it don't matter much The exact V60 recipe I use to first-taste any new grinder: 30 second bloom, two pulses, 150 grams Honest first-taste notes — pleasant, extremely approachable, slightly over-extracted, and a grapefruity note that doesn't linger Clarity vs body: how the K-Ultra reads next to the ZP6, and why clarity isn't always the goal Who this grinder is actually for, and why two grinders is usually enough for most coffee drinkers Now I want to hear from you. How many grinders do you own, and be honest about the number. If you had to keep only two, which two would survive the cut, and what would you give up to make that work? And if you already own the K-Ultra, tell me what setting you've landed on for pour over — I'm sitting around five to seven right now and still moving. Drop it in the comments, because this is the part where the passion for coffee actually gets shared. If this helped you think through your own gear decisions, subscribe so you catch the espresso test on this grinder, and hit the bell so you're not hunting for it later.
