Moonquakes are seismic activities on the Moon, similar to earthquakes on Earth. However, their causes are still not fully understood. They can be categorized into deep moonquakes, shallow moonquakes, and thermal moonquakes. Deep moonquakes, which occur about 700 kilometers below the lunar surface, are believed to be caused by tidal forces exerted by the Earth. Shallow moonquakes, on the other hand, happen closer to the surface and can last for several minutes. Thermal moonquakes, as the name suggests, are caused by the expansion and contraction of the Moon's crust due to temperature changes.
