An early news report about the discovery of the Titanic wreck. In the early hours of 1 September 1985 the ghostly image of a ship's boiler appeared on screens. This was the first positive sighting of the Titanic wreckage since she went down in 1912. The expedition led by Robert D. Ballard and Jean Louis Michel remained on site and took hundreds of overhead black and white images. Ballard returned a year later to film inside the wreck and in colour, using the research submarine Alvin and a small robotic camera named Jason Jr.
