Can you ride an Electric Hybrid Bike off-road?

Dec 1, 2022
In this video I see if you can safely ride an electric hybrid bike off road. The route in question circles Caradon hill in Cornwall, UK which is on the eastern edge of Bodmin moor. The route follows the old disused Caradon and Liskeard railway line that used to service the thriving copper mining industry in the area many years ago. A hybrid e-bike is a good compromise between a full-on e-MTB and an e-Road bike, particularly if like myself you do most of your riding on the road with occasional excursions off-road. The ebike used in the test is the Vitus Mach E Urban, which I purchased back in October 2020 and have since covered over 800 miles. It uses the Shimano Steps E6100 motor with a 504Wh battery and has proven to be very reliable and versatile over mixed terrain. A full review of my Vitus can be found at: https://ebikechoices.com/vitus-mach-e-urban-electric-bike-review/ Hybrid E-Bikes are great fun, but they do have their limitations and if you're considering regular serious off-road riding, then you should definitely invest in an e-MTB as these are better suited to the rigours of regular off-roading. Thanks for watching, I will upload a video of the full 7.5km soon.
