He Is My Rock
Dec 1, 2020
The world needs HOPE.
The Covid-19 virus, and the media hype surrounding it, has taken a psychological toll on more people than were infected by the virus. The value of a human has been reduced to the wearing of masks and social distancing. That’s not how it is meant to be.
While I wrote this song 24 years ago, its truth still resonates today, and I believe that someone needs to hear this today, in spite of its imperfections. If you have been wondering where there is hope, look no further. Look to Christ. Feel free to contact me if you wish.
I wrote “He Is My Rock” in 1996 after some major family challenges beginning in 1990. I wouldn’t wish these on my worst enemy. During this time, I questioned whether God really cared for me and my family. In fact, I was very angry at God. Why would He let us go through these challenges? What did we do to deserve this?
Bit by bit, however, I noticed things happening in my life that, while some may say were coincidences, I recognized them as God-incidents meant to encourage me. I started to believe that God gave me strength and protected me from much worse things that didn’t cross my mind as I was so wrapped up in self-pity. I looked back and noticed many times of protection throughout my life. I came to the conclusion that Jesus is my Rock. He is the one who is the firm foundation of my life. I can depend on Him for strength and protection. Jesus is also my hope for eternal life. The problems of this world pale in comparison to the blessing of having my sins forgiven and the freedom to start afresh each day. God’s mercies are new every morning.
Jesus still pursues me and you today.
“You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it rests in you.” St. Augustine of Hippo
If you do not know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour, seek Him and He will make Himself known to you.
May God bless you.
