When the Detroit Lions selected tight end T.J. Hockenson with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, many, including myself, expected that he would be a perennial Pro Bowl player by his second season. Though Hockenson did make a Pro Bowl and has shown flashes of brilliance, he disappears way too often for the Lions to give him a huge contract extension.
