**Ingredients:**
- 1 block (14 ounces) firm tofu, drained and cut into 1-inch cubes
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/2 pound ground pork or beef
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
- 1 tablespoon Sichuan peppercorns, ground (optional)
- 1-2 tablespoons doubanjiang (spicy fermented bean paste)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon Chinese cooking wine (Shaoxing wine)
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (slurry)
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- Cooked rice (for serving)
