Join me as I dive to explore the wreck of the famous 'mystery' Q-ship, HMS Stock Force, and learn more about it's battle with the German submarine UB-80. The incredible bravery of the crew was recognised by the award of Britain's highest gallantry medal, the Victoria Cross, to the skipper Lt Harold Auten RNR. *DiveVolk Seatouch 4 Max* The device you can see me using on decompression stops to watch a film is the DiveVolk Seatouch 4 Max which can be bought here (affiliate link) - https://amzn.to/3YjsWqS *Orcatorch DC710* The torch that I use during the dive is the Orcatorch D710 which can be bought here (affiliate link): https://amzn.to/3YLyiey *Highlights* 00:00 Introduction 05:00 Attaching the lazy shot 10:42 What is a Q-ship?? 15:57 Huge lobster! 19:00 Finding the bell 20:18 The 'other' Stock Force bell 25:18 Layout of the ship 29:05 Axpe Mendi Bell! 35:40 I'd love to know what this is? 39:42 Dropping my video rig! 41:51 How to watch movies underwater! *Kit I Use* Note, some of these are affiliate links so help support making my videos: Gloves are Ansell Alphatec 87-063 - https://amzn.to/4jDHhX4 Main torch is an Orcatorch D630 - https://amzn.to/4jlT4tA Backup torch is an Orcatorch D710 - https://amzn.to/4jhddRk Drysuit is an O-Three Ri200 - https://www.othree.co.uk/drysuit-rang... Shipwreck of WW2 Destroyer Revealed

Sunk on 13 Apr 1943 by German Schnellboots (fast attack craft) this shipwreck of the Royal Norwegian Navy ship Eskdale is a war grave that is the final resting place of 25 brave Norwegian sailors. The HMNorS Eskdale was a heavily armed Hunt Class destroyer that was broken in half when hit by two German torpedoes. It is now an outstanding technical dive in 70 metres of water and is easily reachable from the Cornish port of Falmouth. During this dive, I highlight the badly damaged stern section including twin 4 inch gun mounts, torpedo tubes still with live torpedoes, control room and large quantities of ammunition and crockery *Highlights* 00:00 Introduction 03:53 HMNorS Eskdale 08:08 Steam turbine (perhaps?) 14:18 Main armament - twin 4" guns 17:23 4 inch ammunition and ship's galley 22:50 Torpedo tubes 26:14 A mess of machinery 31:25 Torpedo tubes (again!) 33:49 Propellor and drive shaft 41:20 Dive profile and decompression stops 45:27 Roll of honour *Kit I Use* Note, some of these are affiliate links so help support making my videos: - Gloves are Ansell Alphatec 87-063 - https://amzn.to/4jDHhX4 - Main torch is an Orcatorch D630 - https://amzn.to/4jlT4tA - Backup torch is an Orcatorch D710 - https://amzn.to/4jhddRk - Drysuit is an O-Three Ri200 - https://www.othree.co.uk/drysuit-range/ri-2-100-drysuit/ - CCR is an AP Diving Inspiration (XPD) - https://www.apdiving.com/ - Backup computer is a Shearwater Perdix v2 - https://amzn.to/42FXZOW - Reels are by Kent Tooling - https://www.divingproducts.co.uk/ - Cameras are Paralenz Vaquita - Video light is NiteScuba NSV60 - NiteScuba NSV60 - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_onHEKQZ - Phone housing is Divevolk Seatouch 4 Max - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_omJlNKL - Strobes are Prozhaozhu 3000 Lumen Diving Strobe - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_oBMRF3X *Like this video?* If you enjoyed this deep wreck diving video then check out my other ones πhttps://www.youtube.com/@D33pUK π You also may wish to consider buying me a coffee π https://buymeacoffee.com/d33puk βββ

In the dying days of WW2, a type VIIC German submarine was lured into a deadly British minefield where it was destroyed and all the crew killed. The wreck of the U-1021 now lies in 52 metres (170 feet) of beautiful clear water making it an incredible, haunting dive. It's a great depth for divers as they gain technical diving skills and appears on many people's diving bucket list. *Highlights* 00:00 Introduction 05:23 Type VIIC/41 German submarine 09:49 Mark XVII contact naval mine 16:31 Bow and torpedo tubes 22:28 "The Eye of Sauron" - Periscope #1 28:41 Underwater posers! 34:30 Did people survive the explosion? 40:36 Photogenic buddy at stern 48:00 Main hatch in conning tower 54:05 Decompression profile *Iron Coffins* In the video I suggest you read Iron Coffins by Herbert Werner. The SS Silver Laurelwhich is the only wreck I know that has a cargo of huge trees which is one of the reason it's my favourite local dive! The Silverlaurel was torpedoed on 18 December 1944 by the German submarine U-486 whilst en route from West Africa to Hull. Fortunately all 68 crew managed were rescued although the U-486's next victim was the tragic SS Leopoldville on which over 800 American servicemen died on Christmas Eve. *Highlights* 00:00 Introduction 04:25 Getting off Red Alert 10:30 Making bottom at 65 metres 27:15 Telemotor (hydraulic) helm 35:45 Finding a serving disk 48:00 Ascent 54:30 Surfacing *Kit I Use* Note, some of these are affiliate links so help support making my videos: - Gloves are Ansell Alphatec 87-063 - https://amzn.to/4jDHhX4 - Main torch is an Orcatorch D630 - https://amzn.to/4jlT4tA - Backup torch is an Orcatorch D710 - https://amzn.to/4jhddRk - Drysuit is an O-Three Ri200 - https://www.othree.co.uk/drysuit-range/ri-2-100-drysuit/ - CCR is an AP Diving Inspiration (XPD) - https://www.apdiving.com/ - Backup computer is a Shearwater Perdix v2 - https://amzn.to/42FXZOW - Reels are by Kent Tooling - https://www.divingproducts.co.uk/ - Cameras are Paralenz Vaquita - Video light is NiteScuba NSV60 - NiteScuba NSV60 - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_onHEKQZ - Phone housing is Divevolk Seatouch 4 Max - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_omJlNKL - Strobes are Prozhaozhu 3000 Lumen Diving Strobe - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_oBMRF3X *Like this video?* If you enjoyed this deep wreck diving video then check out my other ones πhttps://www.youtube.com/@D33pUK π You also may wish to consider buying me a coffee π https://buymeacoffee.com/d33puk βββ

Landing Craft Tank (LCT) from World War Two discovered off L...

During one of the worst storms of World War Two, the Royal Navy lost 55 sailors when six Landing Craft Tanks (LCTs) foundered off Land's End in late October 1944. This horrendous tragedy was largely forgotten until we dived an unknown wreck lying in nearly 100 metres of water. In the autumn of 1944, the Royal Navy dispatched 9 LCTs from the 9th LCT flotilla to the Far East as as part of convoy KMS66. Many of the vessels were survivors of the invasion Sicily and were expected to be used to support the invasion of Japan. In horrendous conditions far outside those in which they were designed to operate, six of the flat-bottomed LCTs foundered to the NW of the Isles of Scilly and fifty five sailors were drowned. Operating from Newquay, the #Gasperados team were diving unknown virgin wrecks and were stunned when we discovered a Landing Craft Tank. Archive research allowed us to piece together the incredible story of the lost sailors and craft of the 9th LCT flotilla. *Useful LInks* Combined Ops page - https://www.combinedops.com/9th%20LCT%20Flotilla.htm Royal Navy report - https://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/news/2023/july/18/20230718-lct-wreck The only surviving Mk3 LCT - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMLCT_7074 *Highlights* 00:00 Introduction 00:50 How did we identify the LCT? 02:15 9th Landing Craft Tank Flotilla - why was it there? 03:30 Survivor's account 05:33 How much decompression??? 06:06 Reaching the bottom 08:32 Two bronze props 10:34 LCT ramp 14:05 Diesel engine #1 & props (again) 16:25 Diesel engine #2 & wiring 21:26 Illuminating the props for Rick's photos 23:00 Diesel engine #2 (again) 25:05 Ascent 26:55 More information on the 9th LCT flotilla *Kit I Use* Note, some of these are affiliate links so help support making my videos: - Gloves are Ansell Alphatec 87-063 - https://amzn.to/4jDHhX4 - Main torch is an Orcatorch D630 - https://amzn.to/4jlT4tA - Backup torch is an Orcatorch D710 - https://amzn.to/4jhddRk - Drysuit is an O-Three Ri200 - https://www.othree.co.uk/drysuit-range/ri-2-100-drysuit/ - CCR is an AP Diving Inspiration (XPD) - https://www.apdiving.com/ - Backup computer is a Shearwater Perdix v2 - https://amzn.to/42FXZOW - Reels are by Kent Tooling - https://www.divingproducts.co.uk/ - Cameras are Paralenz Vaquita - Video light is NiteScuba NSV60 - NiteScuba NSV60 - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_onHEKQZ - Phone housing is Divevolk Seatouch 4 Max - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_omJlNKL - Strobes are Prozhaozhu 3000 Lumen Diving Strobe - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_oBMRF3X *Like this video?* If you enjoyed this deep wreck diving video then check out my other ones πhttps://www.youtube.com/@D33pUK π You also may wish to consider buying me a coffee π https://buymeacoffee.com/d33puk βββ

The stunning underwater visibility made for an incredible dive on a wreck that we were able to identify as a Dutch ship that was sunk on the night of 24/25 November 1940. The MV Apollonia was attacked by three German destroyers (Hans Lody, Karl Galster and Richard Beitzen) using gunfire and torpedos but the wreck had remained missing until located on the Darkstar 25 expedition. The MV Apollonia was 2,086 grt tanker built in 1931 in Rotterdam and owned by the NederlandschβIndische Tankstoomboot company at the time of sinking. It carried a crew of 37 of whom 14, or possibly 15, were lost at the time of sinking. *Highlights* 00:00 Introduction 02:08 Researching the wreck! 06:42 Previous dive log 10:34 Stern with bronze prop 14:50 The story of the sinking of MV Apollonia 20:54 Modelling for Rick's awesome photos 23:32 Back at the engines 30:28 Beautiful free swimming Conger Eel 36:40 Stern gun - was the Apollonia armed? 41:44 Decompression profile & Kindle pictures *Thanks* Thanks to Rick Ayrton for use of his images *Kit I Use* Note, some of these are affiliate links so help support making my videos: - Gloves are Ansell Alphatec 87-063 - https://amzn.to/4jDHhX4 - Main torch is an Orcatorch D630 - https://amzn.to/4jlT4tA - Backup torch is an Orcatorch D710 - https://amzn.to/4jhddRk - Drysuit is an O-Three Ri200 - https://www.othree.co.uk/drysuit-range/ri-2-100-drysuit/ - CCR is an AP Diving Inspiration (XPD) - https://www.apdiving.com/ - Backup computer is a Shearwater Perdix v2 - https://amzn.to/42FXZOW - Reels are by Kent Tooling - https://www.divingproducts.co.uk/ - Cameras are Paralenz Vaquita - Video light is NiteScuba NSV60 - NiteScuba NSV60 - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_onHEKQZ - Phone housing is Divevolk Seatouch 4 Max - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_omJlNKL - Strobes are Prozhaozhu 3000 Lumen Diving Strobe - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_oBMRF3X *Like this video?* If you enjoyed this deep wreck diving video then check out my other ones πhttps://www.youtube.com/@D33pUK π You also may wish to consider buying me a coffee π https://buymeacoffee.com/d33puk βββ
