Internet folklore states that the UB-85 submarine was sunk by a 'sea monster' on 30 April 1918. It was believed to lie in 100 metres of water approximately 10 NM to the North East of Bangor, Northern Ireland. This area is highly tidal with strong currents, busy shipping and is notorious for poor visibility. On 16 July 2021 we dived the wreck where UB-85 was believed to be in order to confirm it's identity and check for bite marks ........ #ccr #closedcircuitrebreather #mixedgas #trimix #scubadiving #technicaldiving *Kit I Use* Note, some of these are affiliate links so help support making my videos: - Gloves are Ansell Alphatec 87-063 - https://amzn.to/4jDHhX4 - Main torch is an Orcatorch D630 - https://amzn.to/4jlT4tA - Backup torch is an Orcatorch D710 - https://amzn.to/4jhddRk - Drysuit is an O-Three Ri200 - https://www.othree.co.uk/drysuit-range/ri-2-100-drysuit/ - CCR is an AP Diving Inspiration (XPD) - https://www.apdiving.com/ - Backup computer is a Shearwater Perdix v2 - https://amzn.to/42FXZOW - Reels are by Kent Tooling - https://www.divingproducts.co.uk/ - Cameras are Paralenz Vaquita - Video light is NiteScuba NSV60 - NiteScuba NSV60 - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_onHEKQZ - Phone housing is Divevolk Seatouch 4 Max - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_omJlNKL - Strobes are Prozhaozhu 3000 Lumen Diving Strobe - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_oBMRF3X *Like this video?* If you enjoyed this deep wreck diving video then check out my other ones πhttps://www.youtube.com/@D33pUK π You also may wish to consider buying me a coffee π https://buymeacoffee.com/d33puk βββ

Sometimes wrecks don't want to give up their secrets and this is one that will almost never certainly be identified! The Gasperados hunt for the missing USCG Tampa took us to a mark that was 50 miles North of Newquay, Cornwall in nearly 100 Metres (300 feet) of water. Exploring History: First Dive to Victoria Cross Wreck

Frederick Parslow is one of only two merchant marine captains to win the Victoria Cross. His unbelievable bravery saved the SS Anglo-Californian from being sunk by the famous SM U-39, and it's legendary skipper Walther Forstman, on July 1915. Unfortunately this was at the cost of his life and that of 20 of his crew. Frederick is now buried in the cemetry in Cobb (old Queenstown). The Anglo-Californian was later bought by the Cunard company who changed the name to SS Vandalia before it was sunk off Pembroke in June 1918 in 107 metres of water. Fortunately there were no casualties this time. The wreck had almost certainly never been dived before we visited it in 2022. *Highlights* 00:00 Frederick Parslow Victoria Cross 03:35 An early start to hit slack! 06:10 He deserved the IRON CROSS! 10:38 What no wreck! 23:42 Finding the distance line - PHEW 29:20 The water is alive with aliens 30:35 Idiosyncracies of the boat 32:24 A great team *Thanks* Thanks to Rick Ayrton, Fran Hockley and Andrew Last for permission to use their photos and video *Kit I Use* Note, some of these are affiliate links so help support making my videos: - Gloves are Ansell Alphatec 87-063 - https://amzn.to/4jDHhX4 - Main torch is an Orcatorch D630 - https://amzn.to/4jlT4tA - Backup torch is an Orcatorch D710 - https://amzn.to/4jhddRk - Drysuit is an O-Three Ri200 - https://www.othree.co.uk/drysuit-range/ri-2-100-drysuit/ - CCR is an AP Diving Inspiration (XPD) - https://www.apdiving.com/ - Backup computer is a Shearwater Perdix v2 - https://amzn.to/42FXZOW - Reels are by Kent Tooling - https://www.divingproducts.co.uk/ - Cameras are Paralenz Vaquita - Video light is NiteScuba NSV60 - NiteScuba NSV60 - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_onHEKQZ - Phone housing is Divevolk Seatouch 4 Max - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_omJlNKL - Strobes are Prozhaozhu 3000 Lumen Diving Strobe - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_oBMRF3X *Like this video?* If you enjoyed this deep wreck diving video then check out my other ones πhttps://www.youtube.com/@D33pUK π You also may wish to consider buying me a coffee π https://buymeacoffee.com/d33puk βββ

Deep Wreck Diver Cracks Shipwreck Mystery after 100 Years

On this deep shipwreck technical dive, we solve another underwater mystery by locating the Maker's plate in 80 metres (240'). This was one of the best dives I did in 2024 and had pretty much everything; flat seas, stunning visibility and ambient light at 80 metres (240 feet), dolphins on decompression stops and a superb result! The SS Hans Jensen was a Danish ship that was one of four vessels sunk by UB-18 on 13 September 1916. Fortunately all the crew survived by the location remained a mystery until we located it. This awesome dive nearly didn't happen when my Diver Propulsion Vessel (aka scooter) fell apart as I was about to enter the water. During one of the worst storms of World War Two, the Royal Navy lost 55 sailors when six Landing Craft Tanks (LCTs) foundered off Land's End in late October 1944. This horrendous tragedy was largely forgotten until we dived an unknown wreck lying in nearly 100 metres of water. In the autumn of 1944, the Royal Navy dispatched 9 LCTs from the 9th LCT flotilla to the Far East as as part of convoy KMS66. Many of the vessels were survivors of the invasion Sicily and were expected to be used to support the invasion of Japan. In horrendous conditions far outside those in which they were designed to operate, six of the flat-bottomed LCTs foundered to the NW of the Isles of Scilly and fifty five sailors were drowned. Operating from Newquay, the #Gasperados team were diving unknown virgin wrecks and were stunned when we discovered a Landing Craft Tank. Archive research allowed us to piece together the incredible story of the lost sailors and craft of the 9th LCT flotilla. *Useful LInks* Combined Ops page - https://www.combinedops.com/9th%20LCT%20Flotilla.htm Royal Navy report - https://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/news/2023/july/18/20230718-lct-wreck The only surviving Mk3 LCT - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMLCT_7074 *Highlights* 00:00 Introduction 00:50 How did we identify the LCT? 02:15 9th Landing Craft Tank Flotilla - why was it there? 03:30 Survivor's account 05:33 How much decompression??? 06:06 Reaching the bottom 08:32 Two bronze props 10:34 LCT ramp 14:05 Diesel engine #1 & props (again) 16:25 Diesel engine #2 & wiring 21:26 Illuminating the props for Rick's photos 23:00 Diesel engine #2 (again) 25:05 Ascent 26:55 More information on the 9th LCT flotilla *Kit I Use* Note, some of these are affiliate links so help support making my videos: - Gloves are Ansell Alphatec 87-063 - https://amzn.to/4jDHhX4 - Main torch is an Orcatorch D630 - https://amzn.to/4jlT4tA - Backup torch is an Orcatorch D710 - https://amzn.to/4jhddRk - Drysuit is an O-Three Ri200 - https://www.othree.co.uk/drysuit-range/ri-2-100-drysuit/ - CCR is an AP Diving Inspiration (XPD) - https://www.apdiving.com/ - Backup computer is a Shearwater Perdix v2 - https://amzn.to/42FXZOW - Reels are by Kent Tooling - https://www.divingproducts.co.uk/ - Cameras are Paralenz Vaquita - Video light is NiteScuba NSV60 - NiteScuba NSV60 - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_onHEKQZ - Phone housing is Divevolk Seatouch 4 Max - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_omJlNKL - Strobes are Prozhaozhu 3000 Lumen Diving Strobe - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_oBMRF3X *Like this video?* If you enjoyed this deep wreck diving video then check out my other ones πhttps://www.youtube.com/@D33pUK π You also may wish to consider buying me a coffee π https://buymeacoffee.com/d33puk βββ

The discovery of USS Jacob Jones (DD-61) - full dive footage

The USS Jacob Jones (DD-61) was torpedoed by the German submarine U-53 on 6 December 1917 with the loss of 66 lives becoming the first ever American destroyer to be sunk by enemy action. Famously the u-boat skipper, KapitΓ€nleutnant Hans Rose, surfaced and radioed for help which significantly reduced the loss of life Many people have tried to find the wreck but I was fortunate enough to be part of the team in 2022, diving from Darkstar, that found it 40 miles SW of the Isles of Scilly. In 115 metres (380 feet) of water and challenging tidal conditions, we located the ship's bell and were able to make a positive identification. Subsequently the Royal Navy, on behalf of the US Navy, recovered the bell and it is now on it's way to a museum *Links* USS Jacob Jones (DD-61) on wikipedia - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Jacob_Jones_(DD-61) Rick Ayrton on facebook - https://www.facebook.com/rick.ayrton.1 *Highlights* 00:00 Introduction 03:48 The bell of the Jacob Jones 08:00 Torpedo tubes and the bent prop 11:13 Lieutenant (JG) Stanton Kalk, Distinguished Service Medal 13:27 Stunning photos of the Jacob Jones (DD-61) 15:15 Four inch guns! 16:35 Darkstar - famous Diver Support Vessel 17:50 Gravity returns *Thanks* With thanks to Rick Ayrton for use of his images and Roger Partridge for his drone video of Darkstar *Kit I Use* Note, some of these are affiliate links so help support making my videos: - Gloves are Ansell Alphatec 87-063 - https://amzn.to/4jDHhX4 - Main torch is an Orcatorch D630 - https://amzn.to/4jlT4tA - Backup torch is an Orcatorch D710 - https://amzn.to/4jhddRk - Drysuit is an O-Three Ri200 - https://www.othree.co.uk/drysuit-range/ri-2-100-drysuit/ - CCR is an AP Diving Inspiration (XPD) - https://www.apdiving.com/ - Backup computer is a Shearwater Perdix v2 - https://amzn.to/42FXZOW - Reels are by Kent Tooling - https://www.divingproducts.co.uk/ - Cameras are Paralenz Vaquita - Video light is NiteScuba NSV60 - NiteScuba NSV60 - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_onHEKQZ - Phone housing is Divevolk Seatouch 4 Max - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_omJlNKL - Strobes are Prozhaozhu 3000 Lumen Diving Strobe - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_oBMRF3X *Like this video?* If you enjoyed this deep wreck diving video then check out my other ones πhttps://www.youtube.com/@D33pUK π You also may wish to consider buying me a coffee π https://buymeacoffee.com/d33puk βββ

Mystery German submarine identified by deep wreck divers

Even a hundred years after they sank, many German u-boats remain unidentified and the cause of their loss unclear. Often the only way to solve the mystery is to dive them, acquire as much information as possible and then combine it with what is known from archives I was part of a team of technical divers who completed a series of dives on a large World War One German submarine lying off the Lizard Peninsula in the English Channel. We scrubbed the prop and acquired large amounts of video which was used to build a 3D photogrammetry model. This allowed us to confirm the identity of the submarine as the SM U-95, lost on 7 Jan 1918. We were also able to validate SS Braenil's claim to have sunk SM U-95 by ramming, making it only the second merchant ship in WW1 to have achieved this feat. *More submarine dives:* Mystery german submarine 280 feet down - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UnV-SxWHiQ 280 feet down - unidentified german submarine - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lSZ3bHkrfs German u-boat lost in 1945 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSRbE4KHnPQ *Highlights* 00:00 Introduction 02:26 Mystery #1 - identification? 04:13 Mystery #2 - why did it sink? 05:19 Arrival at the wreck 09:55 Scrubbing the prop! 22:25 Recording numbers from the prop 25:05 Stern gun (88mm) and ready use ammunition 27:38 Conning tower and interior 30:58 Filling the lifting bag 34:20 Solving mystery #1 - identfication? 36:05 Solving mystery #2 - what sunk it? *Kit I Use* Note, some of these are affiliate links so help support making my videos: - Gloves are Ansell Alphatec 87-063 - https://amzn.to/4jDHhX4 - Main torch is an Orcatorch D630 - https://amzn.to/4jlT4tA - Backup torch is an Orcatorch D710 - https://amzn.to/4jhddRk - Drysuit is an O-Three Ri200 - https://www.othree.co.uk/drysuit-range/ri-2-100-drysuit/ - CCR is an AP Diving Inspiration (XPD) - https://www.apdiving.com/ - Backup computer is a Shearwater Perdix v2 - https://amzn.to/42FXZOW - Reels are by Kent Tooling - https://www.divingproducts.co.uk/ - Cameras are Paralenz Vaquita - Video light is NiteScuba NSV60 - NiteScuba NSV60 - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_onHEKQZ - Phone housing is Divevolk Seatouch 4 Max - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_omJlNKL - Strobes are Prozhaozhu 3000 Lumen Diving Strobe - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_oBMRF3X *Like this video?* If you enjoyed this deep wreck diving video then check out my other ones πhttps://www.youtube.com/@D33pUK π You also may wish to consider buying me a coffee π https://buymeacoffee.com/d33puk βββ

Mystery german submarine 280 feet down

During the first World War, the Germans built large numbers of submarines and many have yet to be found or identified. This was the second #gasperados dive on a UC type 2 minelaying submarine lying in 85 metres (280 feet) in the English Channel. We knew that it was going to be a challenging dive and that the only way to identify the submarine was by scrubbing the props to remove concretion and find identifying serial numbers. Find out how we got on! *More submarine dives:* Enigma of German u-boat wreck solved by divers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vo01ty6B3YI 280 feet down - unidentified german submarine - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lSZ3bHkrfs German u-boat lost in 1945 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSRbE4KHnPQ *Highlights* 00:00 Introduction 01:24 First World War German minelaying submarine 04:31 Arriving at the bottom 06:47 Prop scrubbing 21:40 Photos 21:55 Deck gun (88 mm) and mine tubes 25:01 Back at the gun and conning tower 27:50 Dive complete 29:15 Analysis *Kit I Use* Note, some of these are affiliate links so help support making my videos: - Gloves are Ansell Alphatec 87-063 - https://amzn.to/4jDHhX4 - Main torch is an Orcatorch D630 - https://amzn.to/4jlT4tA - Backup torch is an Orcatorch D710 - https://amzn.to/4jhddRk - Drysuit is an O-Three Ri200 - https://www.othree.co.uk/drysuit-range/ri-2-100-drysuit/ - CCR is an AP Diving Inspiration (XPD) - https://www.apdiving.com/ - Backup computer is a Shearwater Perdix v2 - https://amzn.to/42FXZOW - Reels are by Kent Tooling - https://www.divingproducts.co.uk/ - Cameras are Paralenz Vaquita - Video light is NiteScuba NSV60 - NiteScuba NSV60 - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_onHEKQZ - Phone housing is Divevolk Seatouch 4 Max - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_omJlNKL - Strobes are Prozhaozhu 3000 Lumen Diving Strobe - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_oBMRF3X *Like this video?* If you enjoyed this deep wreck diving video then check out my other ones πhttps://www.youtube.com/@D33pUK π You also may wish to consider buying me a coffee π https://buymeacoffee.com/d33puk βββ

Exploring The Lusitania's Dark Underwater Tomb
2K views Β· Apr 22, 2025 humix_publisher_567875
The RMS Lusitania is one of the world's most famous shipwrecks. Torpedoed in 1915 by U-20 within sight of the Irish coast, nearly 1200 people lost their lives, and it has been the source of controversy ever since with both sides using it for propaganda purposes. Located in an area of poor visibility and strong tides, the 90 metre (295 feet) deep RMS Lusitania is notorious for being a very challenging dive. On this dive we penetrate deep inside the boiler room hoping to find evidence of a potential boiler explosion that may explain why it sunk so quickly. Close to the end (31:43) we find one of the most incredible things that I've ever seen underwater! *Spoiler* it's a Siebe Gorman diving lamp from the 1930-40s that must have been used in one of the early salvage attempts. *Highlights* 00:00 Introduction 03:20 Bubble check! 07:35 Fran helps me out 09:55 Laying our guideline into the wreck 13:10 First (of many) massive double ended Scotch boiler 19:30 Porthole dropped from above 20:10 50 metres in - time to turn around 21:00 Steam gauge 24:05 Banging my head 27:20 Other divers! 29:00 Back at the shot 31:43 One of the most amazing things I've found underwater! 34:10 Back at the surface
