Darkstar Divers Find Lost Ship After 154 Years
After 154 years lost to the depths, the lost ship SS Greek has finally been discovered—and you’re coming with me on the dive. In September 2024, three members of the #Darkstar dive team descended nearly 100 metres between Cornwall and Ireland, chasing an unknown seabed mark. What we found was extraordinary: the remains of an early steamship, crockery from the Anglo-Greek Steam Navigation & Trading Co. Ltd, and a cargo hold still packed with firebricks. The SS Greek left the Clyde on December 3rd, 1869, bound for Rotterdam with general cargo and firebricks. She never arrived. By January 1870, she was reported missing, presumed lost with all 23 crew. After 12 months of research, aided bypeopel on my social media channels, a newspaper article was uncovered describing the loss and her cargo—confirming our find. This video features the complete dive footage from the day we identified the wreck. You’ll see untouched cargo, company-branded crockery, and the haunting silhouette of a ship lost since the Victorian era. Dive with me on Closed Circuit Rebreather (CCR) to nearly 100 metres as we piece together maritime history, one artifact at a time. *Thanks* Many thanks to Mark Dixon (skipper/leader), Will Schwarz (diver) Leigh Bishop (diver) and everyone who helped the search! *Support what I Do* If you'd like to support what I do then please consider joining my channel - http://bit.ly/4kMVqCB You also may wish to consider buying me a coffee 👉 https://buymeacoffee.com/d33puk ☕☕☕ *Kit I Use* Note, some of these are affiliate links so help support making my videos: - Gloves are Ansell Alphatec 87-063 - https://amzn.to/4jDHhX4 - Main torch is an Orcatorch D630 - https://amzn.to/4jlT4tA - Backup torch is an Orcatorch D710 - https://amzn.to/4jhddRk - Drysuit is an O-Three Ri2-100 - https://www.othree.co.uk/drysuit-range/ri-2-100-drysuit/ - CCR is an AP Diving Inspiration (XPD) - https://www.apdiving.com/ - Backup computer is a Shearwater Perdix v2 - https://amzn.to/42FXZOW
