YEN KIM PHAN: https://www.instagram.com/foodiswhyimbroke CURRY UP NOW: https://www.instagram.com/curryupnow CHECK OUT MY TRAVEL BLOG: https://davidsbeenhere.com/ While I was in San Francisco in December of 2021, I met up with a foodie blogger named Yen Kim Phan to expose her to the wonders of Indian food! Come with with us as we eat American Indian street food in San Francisco, California! Yen Kim Phan has an incredible food blog called “Food Is Why I’m Broke,” which is such an awesome name! When I learned that she’d never had Indian food before, I knew I had to teach her all about it, so we linked up at Curry Up Now Restaurant for some American/Indian fusion food! DAVID’S BEEN HERE MERCH: https://teespring.com/stores/davids-been-here Curry Up Now started as a food truck and now they’re starting to franchise. They sell lots of conventional Indian street foods as well as some really creative dishes. They have lots of burrito options, thalis, pizzas, and more! Inside, we met Peter and headed back to the kitchen. He made us a chicken tikka masala burrito, fried some idli, poured some paneer makhani on some sweet potato waffle fries, and more. Then, they deliver the food to you via robot! We ordered the naughty naan, which is almost like a pizza with chicken tikka masala, mozzarella, jalapenos, and parmesan. The sexy fries were waffle fries with paneer makhani, a chicken tikka masala burrito, kachori chaat, and Angry Idli Manchurian with ghost pepper powder! We started with chai, which was full of cinnamon and a bit of ginger. Then we jumped on the fries before they got soggy. The sweet potato fries with the gravy and the dense paneer were such an incredible combination! The kachori chaat was sweet, with a little bit of spice, creamy because of the yogurt, and a little tart from the tamarind. I loved the yogurt and chickpeas in it! The Angry Idli Manchurian wasn’t too spicy but it definitely had a bit of heat that lingered. It had me breaking a sweat but it was so good! The spongy idli absorbed the hot Manchurian sauce. Next was the Naughty Naan was basically an Indian pizza with chicken tikka masala on top. I loved the creaminess and the crispy naan. The gravy was really nice, as was the jalapeno. The chicken tikka masala burrito was very buttery with a corn flour wrap and also contained rice. It’s the perfect to-go dish! Yen loved the Sexy Fries, while my favorite was the Angry Idli Manchurian. They were so spicy! Where have you been?
