Opportunities & Assignments--Body of Christ series, Pt. 4

Sep 24, 2025
This week we explored the source of our endeavors: God-given assignments or self-directed opportunities. Acts 5 gives us the essence—when told to stop preaching, the apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than men.” That’s the difference. Opportunities can be declined. Assignments demand obedience. We saw it with Moses, who didn’t volunteer for Pharaoh’s court. With Joshua, who inherited a mission bigger than himself. With Nehemiah, whose burden to rebuild wasn’t a career move. And with Esther, who found herself positioned “for such a time as this.” Contrast this with people like Simon the Magician who sought to buy the power of the Holy Spirit, or Ananias and Sapphira who wanted the honor of generosity with full sacrifice. Takeaway? Assignments aren’t about convenience or applause. They’re about obedience—God’s will, God’s timing, God’s glory. #purpose #purposedriven #godgivenpurpose #christian #christianity #kingdomofgod
