My reply to Auntie 24 09 2025

Firstly, it’s only a reply if you engage with what is being said. Secondly, I wrote a reply to this before realising that you have deleted my comment on the video, that this video is supposed to be in response to. This is unhelpful as it disjoints my comment from the video it was commenting on. Regarding the dating of the New Testament books, you have offered no “scholarly work” on the subject. That was very much my point! I am happy to recommend any number of good academic works on the subject, as you don’t appear to have read any. “His refusal to accept them as such is his problem.” It isn’t. The Bible just isn’t special to non-Christians. He is under no obligation to find it ‘better’ or more interesting than any other religious text. We know you do, but that’s not the point, part of being an adult is our ability to envisage topics from another’s point of view. I can only assume from your use of the phrase “true account of creation” that you are a Young Earth Creationist. It’s fine that you believe that, however, all available evidence says you’re wrong and no available evidence suggests you are right. For normal people this would cause pause for thought. The conclusion of this thought should be that if Yahweh does in fact exist, he is a trickster God, and this is inconsistent with his definition in the Bible. As an aside, it is somewhat ironic that you can’t pronounce theist! As a second aside, you mentioned Noah’s Flood, which is just one of many stories in the Bible that there is no evidence for. However, that’s not the real problem with Noah’s Flood, it’s the morality of it. Have you ever considered this?
