everybody good afternoon good evening depends depending on where you're joining us from

um making sure let me fix my camera uh volume it all looks good oh well first of all let's

start with this people who are watching us from india and other parts of asia you know nepal

other countries where COVID is going crazy hopefully you are safe your family's safe

I know there's a lot of a lot of cases are coming out and you know there you know people are dying

and also I personally know you know my family have a couple of cases going through my son here

in the US he had COVID and it's been actually I would say eight or ten weeks and he still have

he's negative but you can see he's still not 100 percent back so COVID can last longer than you

know we all think. You think that after 10 days COVID is done it may be longer than that. Everybody

And today's shows you know we want to obviously talk a little bit about COVID, what's going on

that's the thing is we are not used to these situations so long staying in a home locked in

it's just hard hard at everybody so not only you have to keep yourself calm but also to see if you

can support anybody else out there if you are willing to help in different ways you can do that

you should put on resume or not I'll give you these five tips which everybody should think about

before they are sending their resumes to somebody else i hire a lot of people in the u.s as well as

in india i also help several companies to find their potential future employees and i go through

these all the time so i will share some of the tips pradeep welcome to the show satya welcome

today we are going to talk about some of the things we all go through it i have been going

we've gone through it my early part of the career which is all about resumes jobs switching jobs

salaries, negotiations. If you have any kind of question, just feel free to post

A couple questions. I want to tell you something which you already know, but you probably don't know

Now you'll say, what is that? Okay. In this show or any show, most of us don't ask questions

Do you agree with that? That we don't ask questions. We don't ask too many questions

All, every one of us, even me, right now, in my brain, have questions

I have questions like, why are you not asking questions? And if you look at, you go inside your mind or brain, you will find there's so many questions right there

First rule of growth mindset is let those questions come out. If you don't take those questions out, your brain is going to keep thinking about those questions and thinking and thinking and thinking

Once they're out, you will feel relaxed. Either you get answered or not, doesn't matter

may not be able to answer your questions or I may be but doesn't matter but once

your question is out you will feel relaxed okay think about it think about it all of us have questions our mind has

nothing but questions if we go out we have questions okay why this you know sky so this

if we go eat we have questions if we talk to somebody we have questions in our mind

our brain so point i'm saying is that all of us have questions you just

ask any questions again there's no question is bad question nobody's really judging you oh

why did this person ask this simple question why this person has this easy question okay

more questions you ask more open up that's how you start the first step of growth mindset is

let your questions come out and always worst case what's the worst case could happen

some will say oh you didn't know this answer who cares i may not answer able to answer your

question but listen once it's out at least you will feel relaxed and i guarantee you you'll feel

relaxed if you don't you can come in okay if you disagree with me come in and i i will explain you

and you just come on you know i'm here i'm challenging you great look we already have

some questions right uh can you explain what does c-sharp corner mean okay that's a great question

i'll take that i will take and it's a big story behind that it's a long story behind that i don't

tell that story to many of them but this is a great question i think this question deserves a

big prize this there is a history behind it c-sharp corner i will take that question vanker just asked

Look, so many questions coming again. This is exactly what I am talking about

The first step of growing is any kind of questions, curiosity you have

That's what our brain is. It's always curious. It's always thinking why, why, why

People who get their questions out, people who start looking for answers are the one

They end up becoming the great people. Imagine Gautam Buddha. everybody knows the story of buddha right gotham buddha he was a prince he was living in a you know

in palace i don't need to explain the story he was living in a palace so he has limited

access to the outside world but when one time he went out and he saw all these people he saw old

people he saw people dying he saw people with diseases so his mind start asking all those

questions why why why and to find those answers he left and that's what made him Buddha

Imagine he never asked those questions imagine he never left home he will still be a prince maybe a

king but nobody would know him today. Right another good question great questions guys yeah why

java certification confused people on twitter on c-sharp corner great question Preeti very this is

very great question. So I will take this, you know, question, you know, as soon as we stop talking

today, we are going to take these questions. Let these questions keep coming. Don't hold any

question inside you. You can even ask me what's behind my wall. Does it matter? Because more you

ask, and I want to tell you one more thing before we get to the next level is there's, you know

two things we do as a people right when you're interacting with somebody you're watching somebody

you're communicating right one is talking one is listening right this is how mostly

in communication is right somebody's saying something somebody's listening um and i just learned that today you know these days i'm i'm reading i'm reading bhagavad-gita

I read different versions of it, but I got these two new versions and two editions

And every day I learn something new, even though sometimes you think you know things, but you just don't know things

It's just so much you can understand from that. And one of the things is you can talk or you can listen

People who talk, actually, what they're doing is they are repeating what they already know

So they're not really learning anything. So sometimes you go to these events, you go to meetings or you are sitting with your friends in colleges, you're hanging out and one guy is always talking and talking and talking and talking

In reality, the person who's talking is actually the one who is not gaining anything from the communication because he's saying things he already knows

the person who's listening is the one who's gaining it even it may not be the

something that meaningful but end of the day if you are in a in a group in a meeting in a

conference in intercommunication and all that that's why sometimes it's okay to not talk all

the time just sometimes just pay attention and listen so just i want to throw that out

just something to think about when you are thinking by yourself spending time

like am I the one always really talking talking right so think about that you

got to also you know also I want to tell people sometimes we

bring guests on the show right also keep in mind just look at look at the

body language give everybody time you say your things take a pause give every time this makes us better person this makes a better

communicator this makes a better speaker right something to think about so today we are going to talk about any different topics we are also

going to talk about some of the salaries jobs if you are planning to find a different job most of

us they do all the time right especially young people if you have questions about the jobs

salaries switching jobs what kind of company you should join we want to talk about those too

let those questions coming it's free you know next few weeks until covid is serious we are

gonna bring topics which interest you guys more not we're not going to talk about anything about

building software and all that we'll go back to that you know hopefully in few you know next few

weeks um uh so let's you know we'll take some questions before and then we'll go back i'll

come back to my topics which I have in the list today. We also have several conferences coming up

virtual conferences coming up every month. There's one or two conference we're doing. So participation

on those conferences is important. Learn from there. If you feel like, okay, this conference

is not for you. For example, we have Angular conference coming up. We have React conference

coming up. If you think you are not, but somebody else can benefit from that, let them know. Let

your friends know, hey, it's a free conference. You're sitting at home. You know, you're still

working. You can listen to that one side or you can just attend and you can learn and see if any

sessions you like. So always, always think about how are you helping others? Because end of the

day, what makes us human? You know, I keep telling, I think I talked about last time too

what's the major difference between human and animals or other species they're living species. A human

is the only one species that can think beyond their own benefit right If you look at any animal their focus and their limitation is just survival skills for themselves and their kids children And even look at the

birds, right? Birds are only focusing on children until they grow and they fly away. But human brain

is so evolved that we can think beyond not just us, ourselves, we can think about other species

we can think about everybody else so you can always always help um if you can right so yes

david says listening is very good too but you also have to question speak up yes definitely

question is you definitely need to ask questions because your brain anything comes to it just ask

it worst case is always worst case you know people may not like it or may not answer it or

you know other people will think oh why what kind of question is that who cares nobody cares okay

and they will move on that's fine all right let's take our first question which is a c-sharp

corner can we put that question up there why it's called c-sharp corner um yes i can definitely

explain that so and i'm going to bear i'm going back 22 years um the time when you know the concept

there was no concept of blogging at that time um i was working in a company i was probably 23 years

old 20 yeah 23 24 i was working in a company cruise in here in downing town uh half an hour from here

where i live now and you know that time when we were writing code we didn't have a website to upload

code or we didn't have a github we didn't have anywhere so you know i will write this code and

i need it again and again so we'll forget it where did i put that code there used to be shared drive

and all that in network um so then you know what my colleague suggested my ass you know you keep

looking for this code why don't you create a web page and put the code there and anybody you know

you can just download from there so that's how i created a website called mindcracker

So the Mindcracker website, what I did is I was working with C++

No, there was no C Sharp at that time. It was mostly C++ program, Visual C++

So I start whatever I learn, I start writing there and I put the code there

And then I'm going to not take two hours to tell the story because it's a long story

in 99 December Microsoft sent this two CDs to a friend of mine C-sharp it was a C-sharp compiler

so he gave it to me my hey check it out this is new language so I you know there were two CDs I

installed the compiler and I wrote my first program and it was so simple compared to C+

Plus it took so much less time. I was like, wow, this is fantastic

So I started learning more and I wrote a few simple programs in December 99, C Sharp, Alpha version

So I learned from it and on my mindcracker website, I created a corner where I put my

C Sharp core links, kind of articles, kind of call them blogs now or articles

That time I wrote and I call it C-sharp corner on mindcracker.com website

So that's why it was a corner. And then C-sharp corner, C-sharp language became so popular in 2001

Google picked up. There was nobody was writing C-sharp at that time. There was no content, no documentation

It was literally no help at all at that time. I wrote first articles on C-sharp

in google those articles start coming and start getting so much traffic then i said you know what

minecracker has no traffic c sharp articles have all the traffic i should just create c sharp

corner as a separate website that's how it became c sharp corner hopefully that answers your question

that bring back old memories all right let's take another question that was a history lesson

uh what other next question is i think there was one more similar i want to take one more

similar question we had about java i want to take about that is uh other day we just posted

the java certification and people were saying what's up with that how come c sharp corner

website is showing java certifications so let me talk let me tell you one thing right now um

Simon, you want to put the C-sharp corner homepage right now. 21 years fast forward right now from

C-sharp corner, if you look at C-sharp corner right now, we have, you know, look at this. It's

just everything right now, everything software development. We don't really just do C-sharp

Obviously C-sharp is the most content we have. .NET is most content we have because myself included

I do most work in C-sharp, right? I don't do Java. I don't do anything else

But when we were doing this, some people start coming like, hey, I'm a Java developer

I'm an iOS developer. I want to share something, give back to the community. I'm like, sure

Again, growth mindset never restrict yourself into a limitation. We never say, oh, we only do this

So we just open up. Yeah, anybody can go and publish. And if Java guys comes and they publish their own thing here

and they contribute and somebody's learning java and they can learn here that's great we have php

here we have ios here we have azure here aws here it's pretty much everything these days so

long story short right now even though name is c-sharp corner but we cover almost every

latest technologies going on there and we are launching a new uh challenge it's like a skill

challenge module feature on C-sharp corner. And the Java one was for us easiest to create because

the person who's working is a Java guy. He's like, you know what? I can quickly write some questions

on Java challenge and we can launch it. So that's why we just launched Java, but it doesn't mean we

will not have C-sharp. It does not mean we'll not have Azure. We will have all those challenges on

every technology is coming up soon i think in in july we will launch in every month we have planned

to launch to to challenge it so that's that's the reason but again we are not limiting ourselves to

c-sharp only because that's not growth mindset that's called fixed mindset our end goal is to

help more and more people if somebody says hey i want to contribute to this we will not say no to

that person that's how we are that's how community is all right so let's take more questions looks

like we have a lot of questions coming up um yeah everybody who's joining us now welcome to the show

this is a growth mindset so every friday 12 noon um we all we do is talk about general things here

mostly around growth mindset so even my questions you will see answers are around growth mindset

In the growth mindset if you have not watched very first episodes it the mindset where you always willing to learn things Learn things we don want to And all the things you want to There are two things here

right? If I love, let's say, playing tennis and I go play tennis, that's great. But that's not

really your brain. If you want to grow your brain, it's learning things which you don't like to do

It can be any skill. For example, you don't like gardening, but if you end up doing gardening

it means you have to think a lot, to think hard, think more. Your brain has to work harder

That's how you actually even grow. Science even says the brain cells grow when you do things that

are harder, that are harder for you to do because your brain is not used to that. That's how it

grows means you are creating you're physically creating more neural cells neurons in your brain

and your brain is actually growing this is this is science it's not even a uh you know curion

anymore it's like the scientists have proven that so that's what we talk about on this show

right we will talk about also you know different on more focus on carrier and technologies as well

you know carrier jobs anything all right let's take another question from venkat venkat says

what is the expectation from architect in the current situation from a customer point of view

great question very good question architects i know some of you are young architects if you're

not familiar with this so there's two you know we can break down architects in several categories

one is enterprise architect one is software architect sometimes application architect so we can break down these right um so if you're building an app you can be an app architect as

well if this is a bigger app right so architect and let's talk about software architect I think

that's what major you know majority here is the software architecture right so a software architect

is if you think from customer point of view what I would expect if I'm a customer I want architect

to sit down with me and they should understand my requirements even though I may not have detailed

requirement written but when I'm talking all that they should be able to capture that in a you know

I may just give them as a customer I may give them just user requirement what I want as a user

but architects should be able to sit down with project manager or yst whoever

that he has or she has in the team they should be able to come up with functional requirement

sometimes architect doesn't have to be involved in functional requirement but sometimes actually they do if they do I highly recommend they should be

because then they can ask some technical questions because as a user requirement I may as a customer

I can say I want a website but then architect may say why do you want website if your customers are

if your users are 16 to 30 to 25 years old why do you want website because these users use more apps

right so first thing is requirements right get getting those detailed requirements and

I'm not saying requirement has to be done day one if you are using agile they can be weekly or

bi-weekly all that but that's one of the first jobs for architect then secondary job of biggest

job for architect is architects look at the big holistic view of software that includes

the technologies you are going to stack you are going to pick are you go what language you are

going to pick what kind of database you will need what kind of other resources you need what kind of

storage you need depending on the software you're building. Besides that part now so soft architect

will tell and come up with also the time and cost estimate with project manager and other part other

team members but that's actually the job of architect in today's world is we're going to

build this we're going to pick these technologies this is a you know this and not only that you're

also going to predict that this software when we are building it should be good enough for next 10

years regardless of how many number of users are what changes all that so architects role is also

to predict that how long this software will last is a performance good is scalable

all those things are part of architects you know majority responsibilities here then architects also

role is to make sure he or she hires the right people in the team if they're not members

already available interview them and sometimes they need help mentorship and training and even

go and work with the deploy and devops team to deploy and even involve in some kind of testing

system testing you don't have to test everything but you have to part of the whole process

so let me make it short if you are an architect for a building right if you are an architect for

a building you don't only draw the blueprint that's obviously part of your job but you also

make sure that when you're drawing and recommending that oh this is how we're going to build the

building you also make sure that this building is not going to crash when there's earthquake comes

or when there there's a tornado comes and there's a flood comes and all that so all those things are

combined as a job architect and i think i'm planning to have a whole series once we go beyond

you know just on architecture software architecture so that will be more but hopefully this is able

to answer your questions one more thing last thing is communication biggest role and that's

not just for architect all of us architects should be really good in communication because that's the

center of entire software development all the teams are going through architect right

sometimes you know in bigger companies you also play a role of project manager i i used to be

architect on some applications but i also a project manager i was also making sure i was also

like delivering to the client and demoing so those all depends on the company to company

sometimes some large corporations they may have 10 10 architects only one epic one large

corporate enterprise application so that's depends on the role but you get the idea

all right let's take another question from here uh hopefully that answered your question if you

guys are agreeing disagreeing with the question my answer also please feel free to post some comments

again we are here to talking about growth mindset um so you know any question is good question

is a college or university degree mandatory to work in i.t field that's a great question

that's a really good question um if you have a degree right if you have a college degree

university degree let's say in computer science it will help it will help in the sense when first

time you're getting the job that's the hardest part okay i'll tell you one thing i came to us in 1998

okay i only worked six months in india but since i came to the u.s nobody has ever asked me for my

degree nobody has asked me what kind of degree i have okay i don't think i have ever shown my degree

to anybody in whole life except first time when I applied for my visa when I was in India

But yes, some companies have a specific requirement that hey if you're applying for this job you have to have

a bachelor's degree or master's degree that's yes so you if you have it it's not going to hurt

but if you look at the history of most successful programmers most successful even CEOs and people

technical people a lot of them don't have degree so point here is that degree should not be

the boundary where oh I cannot become a software engineer because I don't have degree and I have

so many friends they don't have degree some some friend has degree in mechanical engineering some

in chemical some came from any other background they just they like programming so much they just

love it they just learn themselves good thing with programming is once you learn it once you get your

first few projects then nobody cares as long as you are good at it okay and that's how whole life

is right if you want to you know if you want to be a mechanic maybe in the beginning degree helps

but if you are a good mechanic you can fix costs everybody start knowing you nobody cares after that

so you have to like the job and you have to want it and you have to say you know what this is i want

to do and i'm going to learn in the beginning it's going to be hard yes sure because you didn't go

through that four years degree because you know in degree you learn a lot of things you learn basic

you learn fundamentals you ask questions the professor there you do practicals all that so

now the four years people learn in degree you have to kind of condense that in six months you

learn yourself you learn pick and choose what you want to learn so you may never know the fundamentals

some people learn in colleges but it does not mean that you cannot become successful or a good

program and this applies to everything not just programming so hopefully that answers your question

that was a good question by the way all right so we are going through a lot of questions here

there so right now we don't even know because you have this vaccine how long does it last we don't

know that these are unknown though data is still coming so just because you have vaccine it doesn't

mean that you go out and do party and all that i know in india still like election going on i talked

to in village like yesterday they were like election going on like this is just i think this

is all government that's they should not be doing that i know in villages now covet is growing like

crazy and places there's no doctors really some you know my village there's no doctor there's no

hospital beds and all that so weddings are still going on you know i know people

family friends i know people are still going to weddings india just you cannot even skip those

things because that's how the whole culture is so um i don't even know how maybe if you must go

make sure you wear masks stay a little bit social distance if you cannot really avoid

yeah just be safe please be safe we'll take a lot more questions now soon but before we take

some questions I want to talk about one topic today and that's about your resume

there's some things in I'm interviewing people all the time you know and there's certain things

they bug me all the time on resumes and certain people how they think

One thing I want to tell you, okay, we all go through that. It's just not you or anybody, just me. We all go through that. Sometimes we think we are really smart. We think we are really smart. We try to fool other people. But point is that nobody is smart. Everybody knows everything. Think of that. Okay

just keep think about that you know when you have time think about that so best thing I would I always tell people yeah everybody who you know in my friend

circle and just on your resume do not lie whatever you are it's okay if you

don't know something it's okay don't put on that in long run short term you may

think you have won the race because you got selected in a company or or you got select your

resume got selected but end of the day in long run it's not going to help you okay it's like

it's like you know i see my son he grew so when kids do something wrong parents know

it just know because whatever reason so when somebody in resume write something wrong

Think of that senior guys who are looking at they know. Okay

So my advice if I give you one advice don't need to lie on your resume

Just write what you know that's all. That's okay. You may not get this job there's more jobs coming

You just learn then write on it. Okay. Don't just write and then say oh I will learn it

I see a lot of people do that. That's not a good thing to do

um that's number one i'll give you so i'll simon you can put these points uh here too i'll give you

six points today which i think everybody should follow if you believe in growth mindset okay

number two when we have experience of two years in three months don't write 2.3 years

i know it's look it's common i know in the aras you may see a lot just say two plus years is good

if you are close to three if you are 2.9 just say about three years experience keep it simple

that's just easy tip number three on your resume first thing it should be is how many years of

experience you had i was going through some resumes this week and i cannot find this person

how many years experience this person has then i have to go through okay when did he started

oh 2015 and now it's 2021 maybe okay so he has six years experience it should be at the top your

top should be your title current type name obviously title what's your current job title is

and how many years of experience you have that should be in your first paragraph or somewhere

right there because that's the first thing anybody looks at it okay how many years experience he has

or she has and what are your key expertise i don't nobody wants to see 500 things and trust me i wrote

the same thing too in my resumes early days i will write everything i'll write you know c sharp dot

net c plus plus pascal html even in college i learned edda i learned pearl i will write those

no nobody cares okay just write the things that are very important that you are good at it

that you have done it just that's it and that's really where you want to work in it actually so

if you don't have to work in a pearl in your life why you've been mentioned on resume it doesn't

matter if you didn't call it because it's useless right now so make sure that's very clear on resume

or maybe bold it that these are your high you know current skill sets and that's really you are good

at it okay number five tip is so we got that yeah this is funny and I know a lot of us do that some

people they will you know they will go through the interview get the letter say okay and then take the

same letter and go to current company and then negotiate and they think they won the war because

current company gave them an increment it's it's bad it's long term it's bad for you and your

reputation i'm telling you short term you may think that you it's great if you want to really

negotiate just be honest with your company and then let them know like i really need i deserve

more or i need more or i'm getting more offers but don't accept the offer from other company

and put that as a bait put that as a like okay negotiation okay if you give me this or i'm

leaving here. I know some people suggest that you should negotiate all the way but that's not good

This software industry even though it's big it's very small. Everybody knows everybody. Your

reputation is more important in long run when you become a senior person when you have a leadership

skills. It displays major role in you know in short term you think you won the war but

again don't lie you don't need to lie if you are planning to leave a company let your company know

ahead of time that hey i have a job offer if you accept it just stick with that even though your

company says we'll give you 10 percent more then you go back out of sudden out of sudden your

current company doesn't trust you anymore and the new company doesn't trust you that gave you the

offer letter so two companies out of sudden you just lost your your credibility there okay you

don't want to do that in this. Just be honest. It's okay to get a little bit less paid. But in

long run, I guarantee you, you're going to end up making a lot more. People like who do these

little things like little cheats, they end up working for whole life. They never become a

leader because your mind is learning wrong thing. Your mind is learning cheating. Your mind is

learning fraud. Your mind is learning lying. And your mind thinks it's okay to do that

That's not growth mindset. You're not trying to, this is not how it works, okay

And there'll be a time when big companies or somebody will meet again them

and say, you know what, this guy, I don't know, I can't trust him. So trust is very important

Even though you can hold current company hostage right now because they depend on you, because you may be working on important project

they don't want you to leave you but when time comes they let you know that you go first time

first thing if they have a choice because they know they cannot trust you and i'm not saying

don't negotiate you know obviously there are companies their companies their managers they

take advantage advantage of you definitely leave them if they definitely do with them if they are

doing that to you. I'm not saying don't do that but I'm just saying about if you like the company

you like the people you're working with, you want to continue that bridge of relationship even you

leave there and most important thing with that is being honest with them, transparent with them

I'm not saying oh go tell everybody I'm looking for a job. Go find job if you're not happy with

current company okay if you're you don't see a growth if you don't see you're not learning new

things and you're stuck go find a better job that's fine and when you find it you accept it just stick

to that that how good people do and on here on c corner and growth mindset we will we build good people that what our focus is you can be a bad software engineer it okay but we want to focus on building good people

That's what growth mindset is all about. So think about what I'm just saying today

You can come and say, no, this is not right. all right let's take some more questions here

question despite of being potential candidate candidates don't get called for interviews it because of cv quality yes

yes your resume quality and certain things on resume uh may not get you selected or get the call

it's very important to know how to write resume that get at the top

And I'm not saying you don't need to lie on it, but there are certain things I just said

Also, you have to make your resume looks like professional. There are multiple things we can do

So maybe I will do one show just on resume, how to write resume writing services

Do that. A lot of these recruiting companies do that. And as a matter of fact, on C Sharp Corner, we just finished a resume builder, which we

are going to launch sometime this year. that will help all of our members to create professional resumes

So it's coming soon. But yes, your resume plays a major role

The reason is if there are 10 positions, companies probably getting 500 or 200 resumes easily

So all of a sudden, HR is going through 200 resumes. They have to look at which resumes stands out

Right? They don't even, everybody has same skill set. If you apply for a .NET developer

all resumes has dotnet dotnet dotnet developer developer developer C sharp Visual Studio all have that so what do you put on your resume that is sent out

right does it clean is it clearly explained to the resume who's filtering

that oh how many years experience what is title what's a you know current what

the major skill sets and what's the first few projects so it's very

important to have a good resume yes and we will definitely bring that topic

um i will definitely bring that more topic in coming shows i listen more is that a negative thing now listening is not a negative thing

but it doesn't not you need to also participate right just one way

conversation is not good because first of all If you are talking to somebody or somebody saying something to you, they don't know that if you are really getting it

If you have a question, you need to ask that question. Make sure it's clear

Listening is a good thing, but doesn't mean that, you know, you don't say if you are disagreeing something, you need to say I disagree with that

Because that's what conversation is all about. Conversation has to be two way. If it's two way, it's more productive, more fruitful and both sides feel better

if somebody comes and post a comment here that oh i disagree with your comment about this

this resume thing which is great because now i know at least somebody's listening so i now go back

and do more research on that so that also gives me more work and also learning

right so now i'll go learn more if i just say and everybody agrees that's bad for me too because

then i think like okay maybe this must be right so i don't go and learn anything new

yeah so definitely definitely um it has to be two-way conversation right

seeker asked a question um what certification are good for fullstack.net developer

um i think if you go with microsoft certifications um that's pretty standard these days right if i'm

hiring somebody and you're certified you know from one of the microsoft certifications that's

where i stick with that's pretty standard that's how i would go with all right so we were talking

about and there are more questions all right let's we'll take more questions let's finish

some questions because i want to make sure we are done with questions uh jay pretty ask how

should one keep themselves motivated when juniors perform well and progress fast in company

This is a great question. Again, great question. Sometimes you feel like, you know, yeah, this

other people are, well, this should be actually good. Motivation should be learn more, right? And

there's, listen, there are always somebody smarter, faster, better than you. This is normal

right you can't be best all the time this is how it works this the world is

so sometimes you know we see same person started with us and now they are running bigger companies

it should not be there's nothing too jealous about it but what you should do is at least

that should motivate you to learn more and even I see in sports right there is always some younger

guy will be better than the senior guy. So I don't think you should demotivate by this. I also don't

think this should affect you in a negative way. I know it's gonna, that's how human nature is

but goals should be, you should not think that they were junior. You should not think that

they're younger. You should think that they're smarter than me. That's all it is, but it doesn't

mean I'm going to work harder and you just try to work harder you may not beat them you may not be

better than them but you'll get better than yourself so let me one more thing I want to explain

you and when it comes to competition you cannot compete with other people you cannot compete with

other products if you're building product you however you should compete with yourself

what does that mean that means you can ask yourself every day or every week or every month

or every year are you better than the previous one yesterday are you better than yesterday means

did you learn something new did you do something different did you become better today in any way

either better person or did you get in better shape did you do more exercise did you learn

something new so you are competing yourself once you start competing yourself your growth is unstoppable you cannot compare yourself with everybody

because everybody's different okay some people have a hot higher energy some

people are smarter they some people are just geniuses you can't compare with

that but you can compare with yourself you can compete with yourself you can

be a better version of yourself if you are doing that you're gonna continue to

grow and end goal is continue to grow whatever you do and get better at it

That should be the end goal If you want to you know if your focus is health just focus You cannot compete with a guy or girl who is six hours in a gym and you are a programmer

You can only go half an hour a day. So you say, listen, you know, there's nothing worried

You cannot be, you know, frustrate you. All you do is, okay, yesterday I did 60

Now I'm going to 70 today. Yesterday I ran one mile. I'm going to run 1.1 mile this week

And that's all it matters. As long as you're getting better. should not going other way around hopefully that helps um all right let's take some more questions

this is good this interesting i like it when people ask questions at least i know somebody's

here i'm helping somebody somebody's listening you know people are quiet then you don't know

it's one way street again one way street not good for you not even me because then i you're not

helping me actually not asking by asking question you're also helping me right so that's how it

works or another question here how to include all the projects and resumes we have over 50 or

that's a good point that's very great question um and first of all your resume should not be more

than two pages in today's world okay um maybe three if you are really senior guy three pages

is pretty good number but i'll tell you that after first page i don't think anybody maybe they skim

through that so your goal should be the first important project should be the currently you

are working on and past one or two projects past one year two years because if you did something

10 years ago does it really care do i really care that if you pass out from college and you did one

project you know it was like a student management system right so your first page should cover your

latest two projects in detail like what your roles were what did you do exactly should when i read

that it should tell me okay you were actually the leader you lead the team you work in architecture

you also did some design or you also did one module coding all that details rest it should be

brief like what a what was the project and if you think one of those projects you did three years

four years ago you did really good and you there is something you did that that could be a little

bit bigger but others can be brief here's the thing with the resume is that if somebody is

interviewing you and if they want to know about that project in more details then they will ask

more and then you can expand more but it doesn't have to be a 10 page resume that's just a no no

these days i would say maximum three page two is ideal two pages good ideal that you mean you can

make font smaller too sometimes you don't have to it's not a competition of number of pages

um so hopefully that answers your question um all right so this is all right here a question

Vinay how to make a switch to a better position okay great question Vinay so you want to find a

better position right in from your current job better position depends on what you're looking

for what does better means right it's better as salary is better is a better company is better is

a better people you want to work with it better is a better technology or is it better something

you're interested in right better is just so vague so you have to think what better is for you for

example if you say for me better is better salary right my focus is salary then you go find some

company they pay you more and learn what they are paying more for right so other point is let's say

you want to say you know what i don't feel like doing esp.net programming anymore i want to learn

something new. IoT, my interest is IoT, that's better for me. Well, you go learn IoT and then

see who's hiring for IoT and apply for that. Same thing with if you are not happy with a large

corporation because there's not much learning there and you are just stuck in one project for

a long time, you don't feel like you're really being productive or you're really contributing

Maybe you want to look for a smaller company that has a better learning opportunity there

So it's a really question is really it's not easy to for me to answer

It's you have to first find out what is better for you. And do you really know that if not, then go learn that

For example, I'll give you an example. Some people I was talking last week, they're like, I want to get better paid

And I also want to switch from, you know, I want to move and go to more cloud development

so for that there's a lot of job opening for AWS and Azure developers certified developers

as you see it architects right depending on your experience go and learn and do that one of those

certifications once you have that certification it's going to open up your door to get into that

position you're looking for and you'll also get high paid and you'll have more companies to choose

form but if you ask me what better is for me and everybody's different right just because better

for me doesn't mean it's better for you everybody's situation is different if your need is make making

more money because that's the you know a lot of people they do then you don't care about then what

kind of job you get you don't care about what company is it you just focus on money but i don't

know if that would make you happy for me better is where I like the project I'm learning something

new I'm always working on exciting and challenging work and which page okay it doesn't have to be the

best pay but as long as it's not the lowest pay so you have to kind of look at the the the math

there what works for you and then go find that there's a lot of jobs the good thing with today's

market is there's so many jobs out there there's not enough good programmers so you good yeah you

have to be good at something if you are good at it there's a lot of jobs a lot of jobs we can't

find people i'm telling you i work with these so many companies at least five of them in the u.s

and we have one company two companies work with india it's you can't find people so just try to

be good at something hopefully that helps uh any more questions i think there are a few more

questions we'll take we have two more minutes to go but you can you know close out in the next few

minutes uh to what extent data structure problem solving are helpful to me i want to be a software

developer so problem solving is the foundation of programming so every program you're writing

you are kind of solving some kind of problem so that's very important data structure uh it's

It's important, fundamentals are important to understand data, but there are web developers, they just do HTML, CSS, I know

They never need to work with data structure. So for example, if you are a front-end developer, you may not need to do that much data structure or problem solving

You still need to be problem solving because you're going to come up with ideas, how to build the screens and all that

So these days I have seen people where they did not go to college, they have no data structure

background, they have no algorithm background, they don't even a math background and they are

fantastic front-end developers because they can build awesome UI screens, okay they can build

better HTML and CSS. So that should not restrict you but yeah if you want to become a good software

engineer software developer full stack developer then yeah these will play major role you definitely

have to know that um if you ask my personal experience data structure is fine but um

once you know how to build a database and it's it's not hard once you start doing it

then and there are other other people on the team too so yeah problem solving yes very important

so with that i think we are very close to the show um i hope you know you i see we got a lot

of questions covered in today's show hopefully you have all of you enjoy the show um again i

want to remind everybody a few things in today's show is first of all if you have a resume you're

looking for a job stick to what you know what you have done don't need to lie okay you don't need

to lie anything. If you are applying for a job, new job, you're accepted a company offer, don't go

back to your old company and renegotiate because you have offer later. That's just last thing you
