Hi guys, Bobbie here and today I'm going to show you how to crochet this really fun snowman ornament
0:06
So this guy is really easy to crochet and he makes a great little homemade gift for family and friends
0:11
To make him you're going to need some number three worsted weight yarn. The brand I'm using is called Mira and I'm using white, orange, a light blue and a dark blue
0:21
And I ran out of my Mira red but since we're only using a little bit of red I decided just to go with the red heart
0:26
because we're just going to use it for the border of the hat. You will also need some yarn scissors. You will need a 4.0 millimeter hook or a G6 hook
0:36
You will need a yarn needle, a two inch pom pom, and I'm going to use a red pom pom
0:41
You will need some red thread and a thread needle, a stitch marker so that you don't lose your place while crocheting
0:46
You will need some stuffing so that you can stuff the snowman when you're done. And I used polyfill fiber for my stuffing
0:53
I used a tiny bit of black yarn. and the last thing you're going to need is some 10 millimeter safety eyes. I ended up using some
1:00
blue ones. Okay so if you're not sure where to get some of your supplies I will make sure to put
1:06
some links below in the description box for all of the supplies that I'm using today in this video
1:10
and also make sure to go and grab the written pattern from my website so that it makes it easier
1:15
to follow along and I'll go ahead and put that link in the description box below as well. Okay
1:20
to start this pattern we're going to make a magic ring. Now if you don't know how to do a magic
1:25
ring. I will link my video on how to do this in the description box below as well
1:30
Now we're going to place six single crochets into the ring. So there's one
1:39
there's two, three, four
1:52
five, then six single crochets all into that ring and go ahead and pull the ring closed
2:04
and now we will place two single crochets in each stitch around so
2:09
there's one and two single crochets into the same stitch there's one and
2:20
again two single crochets into the same stitch and we will do this all the way
2:26
around so there's one and two to the same stitch one two into the same stitch
2:44
moving to the next stitch over we'll place one and there's two into the same stitch. Now you should have a total of 12 single
2:56
crochets for round two. I'm going to grab my stitch marker and place it into
3:00
the last stitch that I just made so that way I can keep my place. For round three
3:04
we're going to place one single crochet into the next stitch and then two single
3:08
crochets into the stitch after that and we're going to repeat that pattern all the way around. So in the first stitch we place one single crochet and the second
3:17
stitch we place two. So there's one and two into that same stitch. We'll just repeat this all the
3:26
way around. So again in the next stitch place one single crochet and in the next stitch place two
3:31
So there's one and then there's two into the same stitch and remember to just keep repeating that
3:37
pattern all the way around. So pause the video and I will meet you back here for the next round
3:41
And just make sure you get 18 single crochets when you're finished with round three. Okay for round
3:47
four just make sure to move your stitch marker up go ahead and place one single
3:51
crochet into the next two stitches and then two single crochets into the next
3:55
stitch and we're going to repeat that same pattern all the way around so one
3:59
single crochet and then one more into the next stitch over and now two single
4:05
crochets into the third stitch so there's one and two into the same stitch
4:12
now repeat that again so one into the next stitch one into the following and then two
4:19
into the sixth stitch so there's one two into the same stitch okay so pause the video now and
4:28
finish that row remember to keep following the same pattern and when you finish round four you
4:32
should have 24 single crochets okay so for round five remember to move your stitch marker up we're
4:38
going to place one single crochet into the next three stitches and then two
4:42
single crochets into the next stitch over and we'll repeat that all the way around
4:49
so there's one into the first stitch one into the second stitch and one into the
4:57
third stitch now place two into the fourth stitch so there's one and two
5:03
both into this fourth stitch and then we'll do one more time one one into the
5:09
next stitch one into the following stitch and then two into the next stitch
5:17
so go ahead and pause the video and finish this round and you will get a
5:21
total of 30 single crochets when you're finished okay so moving on to round six
5:26
we're going to place one single crochet into the next four stitches and then two
5:30
single crochets into the following stitch so there's one one into the
5:38
second stitch one single crochet into the third stitch and one single crochet
5:45
into the fourth and in the fifth stitch make sure to place two so there's one
5:50
and two so go ahead and repeat that pattern there's one one into the next
5:57
stitch, one again into the next stitch, one again, and then two into the following
6:07
stitch. There's one and two into the same stitch. So again pause the video go ahead
6:13
and finish the round and make sure you have 36 stitches for this round. For round
6:17
seven we're going to single crochet into the next five stitches then we're going
6:21
to place two single crochets into the next stitch and we'll repeat that around
6:24
again so there's one single crochet into the first stitch one into the second one
6:33
into the third again into the fifth and remember to place two single crochets
6:40
into the sixth so there's one and two into the sixth and repeat that around
6:45
again so in the next five stitches only place one so there's one there's two
6:53
three four five and now place two into that next stitch so one and two into the
7:06
same stitch okay so go ahead and finish this round and make sure you have 42
7:10
single crochets by the time you're finished okay so moving on to round eight
7:16
we're going to place one single crochet into the next six stitches and then two
7:20
into the following stitch and then just repeat that pattern so there one into the first stitch two into the second three four five and six
7:39
and then we'll place two into the seventh stitch so there's one
7:47
and two into the same stitch okay so finish off this round and make sure you
7:53
get 48 stitches when you're done. Okay we're on round nine we're going to place
7:58
one single crochet into the next seven stitches and then two into the eighth
8:02
stitch and just continue following that pattern. So there's one into the first
8:08
stitch, one into the second, one into the third, one in the fourth, one in the fifth
8:22
sixth seventh and remember to place two into the eighth stitch so there's one into the eighth and
8:34
two into that eighth stitch okay so again pause the video finish the round and make sure you have
8:40
54 single crochets when you're done okay so rounds 10 through 18 are going to be super easy we're
8:47
just going to single crochet in each stitch around so go ahead and pause the video and finish up those
8:52
rounds and make sure you have 54 stitches in each one of those rounds and
8:56
I'll meet you back here for round 19. Okay so for round 19 it's going to be a
9:01
little different we're going to single crochet into the next seven stitches and then we're going to single crochet two stitches together and then again
9:08
repeat that pattern all the way around. So let's start by making our seven
9:12
stitches so there's one single crochet, there's one into the second stitch, one
9:19
single crochet into the third one into the fourth fifth sixth and seventh and
9:31
now into the eighth and ninth we're going to single crochet those two
9:35
stitches together now if you don't know how to do that I will also leave a video
9:40
link in the description box below on how to do that I'm going to show you that
9:44
pattern one more time so there's one into the next stitch one one into the
9:52
third again one into the fourth one single crochet into the fifth
10:02
there's six there's seven and single crochet these next two stitches together okay so pause the video finish that round and make sure you have 48
10:13
single crochets and I will meet you back here for the next round okay so
10:17
before I move on to the next round let's put our safety eyes onto our snowman and
10:21
when you go to put the eyes on make sure they're attached between the 16th and
10:25
17th rounds and about five stitches apart now you don't have to do it this
10:30
way but that's how I'm going to do mine and when you're happy with your eye placement go ahead and attach the back of the safety eye onto the eye
10:38
and when you're all finished let's go ahead and move on to the next round
10:42
Okay guys so moving on to round 20 it's just going to be an easy round we're
10:46
just going to single crochet in each stitch around make sure you get 48 single
10:51
crochets and go ahead and pause the video and I'll meet you back here for round 21. Okay so starting on round 21 we're going to single crochet into the
11:01
next six stitches and then single crochet two stitches together and then
11:04
just repeat that around. So there's one single crochet do one into the next
11:11
stitch, one into the third stitch, one into the fourth, one single crochet into
11:21
the fifth, one single crochet into the sixth, and now we're going to single
11:28
crochet two stitches together. This is also called a single crochet decrease. I
11:32
will show you that one more time so go ahead and place a single crochet into
11:37
next stitch one more into the next so that'll be two three four five and six
11:58
and then go ahead and single crochet the next two stitches together or a single
12:03
crochet decrease. Go ahead and finish this round and make sure you have 42 single crochets when
12:09
you're done. Pause the video and I'll meet you back here for the next round. Okay for round 22
12:15
we're just going to single crochet in each stitch around so go ahead and pause the video when you're
12:20
ready. Make sure to have 42 single crochets and I'll meet you back here for the next round
12:28
Okay for round 23 we're going to single crochet into the next five stitches and then single crochet
12:33
two stitches together and remember to repeat that around so there's our first single crochet in our
12:38
first stitch one single crochet in the second one in the third fourth and fifth stitch and then we're
12:56
going to single crochet the next two stitches together okay so finish this round make sure
13:01
you have 36 single crochets and I will meet you back here for the next round
13:07
okay guys for round 24 we're just going to single crochet in each stitch around
13:12
and make sure you get 36 single crochets on this round okay so before we move on to the next round it is a good time to start
13:21
stuffing our snowman and I like to stuff mine really really full so make sure to
13:25
put a lot of stuffing in there and get them really nice and full okay so moving
13:31
on to round 25 we're going to single crochet into the next four stitches and
13:35
then go ahead and do a decrease which is a single crochet two stitches together
13:39
and then repeat that around so there's our first single crochet into the first
13:44
stitch one single crochet into the second stitch one into the third one into
13:56
the fourth and then remember to do a decrease by single crocheting two
14:01
stitches together okay go ahead and repeat that pattern all the way around
14:05
make sure you get 30 single crochets pause the video and I'll meet you back
14:09
here for the next round okay for round 26 we're going to single crochet into the next three stitches
14:18
and then do a single crochet two stitches together and then repeat that
14:22
around so here's one single crochet into the first stitch one single crochet into
14:33
the second stitch one into the third and then go ahead and single crochet two
14:40
stitches together I'll do that one more time with you guys so we'll do one single
14:45
crochet into the first one single crochet into the second then one into the third then we go ahead and do a decrease by single crocheting two stitches together okay guys finish off this round and make sure
15:09
you have 24 single crochets I'll meet you back here for the next round before
15:14
moving on let's just make sure to keep stuffing our head as you work so that way
15:18
you get it nice and full okay guys so moving on to round 27 we're gonna go ahead and place one single
15:26
crochet into the next two stitches and then we're going to single crochet two
15:30
stitches together and just continue to repeat that around so there's one single
15:35
crochet into the first stitch one single crochet into the second stitch and now
15:45
let's single crochet two stitches together so there you go it's getting a
15:53
little bit harder to work around because of the stuffing okay guys finish off
15:58
that round make sure to do two single crochets and then two together make sure
16:03
to get 18 single crochets when you're finished and I'll meet you back here for
16:06
the next round okay so before we move on to round 28 just remember to keep
16:11
stuffing the head if you feel like you need to and this time we're just going
16:15
to single crochet in one stitch and then we're going to single crochet two stitches together and repeat that all the way around. So there's our first
16:23
single crochet and then remember in the next two stitches go ahead and single
16:27
crochet those together. Remember to place one single crochet into the next stitch
16:35
and then decrease the next two stitches. So single crochet those next two
16:41
stitches together. Okay finish that round off and make sure to have 12 single
16:45
crochets and then I'll meet you back here for the next one
16:49
Okay round 29 is our last round for the head. Remember to keep stuffing, we want
16:54
it nice and full. And since this is our last round all we're going to do is
16:58
single crochet all of our stitches together. So the next two stitches make
17:03
sure to single crochet those together. Now single crochet the next two stitches together
17:11
And I apologize, this is a little hard to do on camera. But as long as you kind of understand what we're doing
17:21
Okay, so go ahead and single crochet the next two stitches together. And we're just going to do this all the way around until you're done
17:28
Okay, guys, just finish this row off. Just make sure to get six single crochets and then I'll meet you back here to finish
17:35
To finish the snowman's head, we're going to fasten off. Go ahead and grab your yarn needle and we're just going to weave the head shut
17:44
Just go ahead and stitch back and forth through the head and weave it shut. It doesn't matter if it's great because the hat's actually going to cover this part anyway
17:51
Okay, so when you feel good about that, just grab your scissors and cut off the tail end
17:56
And now we'll move on to the next part and make his carrot nose. To start his nose, we're going to begin again with a magic ring
18:04
and this time we're going to work four single crochets into the ring so there's
18:10
one single crochet there's two three and there's four into the magic ring and
18:26
then go ahead and pull that magic ring closed and for round two we're going to
18:31
single crochet into the next stitch and then into the next stitch we'll place two
18:35
single crochets and then we'll just repeat that around so remember just
18:39
place one single crochet into the first stitch and now we're going to place two single crochets into the second stitch so
18:48
there's one and there's two into the second stitch now just place one single
18:56
crochet into the next stitch. So there's one and then place two into the next
19:04
stitch. So there's one and then two into that same stitch and then we're done
19:10
with this round and we're done with the nose. To fasten off go ahead and slip
19:14
stitch into the next stitch. So there's your slip stitch. Grab the scissors and
19:21
cut your tail end and just make sure to leave the tail end long enough so that
19:25
that we can use it to weave in the nose. So I'm just going to fasten it off
19:30
by pulling that loose end through the loop on our hook. And now I'm going to show you how to attach the nose
19:39
To attach the nose, use a yarn needle and weave the tail end through the snowman's face
19:43
right underneath his eyes. And just make sure to weave through the outer stitches of the nose
19:49
I also like to use both of my yarn ends to attach the nose
19:55
Okay guys, so after we're done with the nose, we're going to move on to the hat and we're going to start with a magic ring
20:02
And I am starting with a dark blue. And for the first round, we're going to start by chaining three
20:09
And this chained three is actually going to count as a stitch. And all of the chains will count as a stitch throughout the hat
20:15
Now we're going to place five double crochets into the ring. So there's one double crochet
20:25
two, there's three, four, and five
20:40
And with the chain, that's going to count as six double crochets
20:44
And then go ahead and pull the ring closed. After you pull the ring closed, make sure to slip stitch into the first double crochet at the beginning of your round to join
20:54
For round two we're going to chain three and we're going to double crochet in each stitch around
21:01
Okay, there's our chain three and now we just need to double crochet in every stitch around
21:07
So there's our first double crochet. There's two
21:17
This will be 3, 4, and that's 5
21:34
And that will be our last double crochet because remember the chain counts as our first stitch
21:39
So when you're done with the round, go ahead and slip stitch into the top of the chain to join the round
21:47
So there's our slip stitch. For round three, we're going to chain three
21:52
and then we're going to place two double crochets into the next stitch. So there's our chain, and remember that counts as our first stitch
22:00
And now let's place two double crochets into the next stitch. So there's one, and then place one more into the same stitch
22:12
Now we'll just place one double crochet into the following stitch, and now we'll place two into the stitch after that. So there's one and two into
22:22
the same stitch Place one into the following So one double crochet and then two into that very last stitch
22:36
there's one and then two into the same stitch and that will make a total of nine double crochets
22:41
for this round remember to slip stitch to the top of the chain to finish off the round
22:47
for round four we're going to switch to light blue and we're going to go ahead and chain three
22:52
1, 2, and 3 chains. And now we'll just place 1 double crochet in each stitch around
23:00
So there's 1 double crochet, 2, 3, 4
23:22
five six seven and eight now remember the chain will count is nine so we don't
23:40
need to crochet another stitch so go ahead and join to the top of the round
23:45
by slip stitching and again that round will give us nine double crochets for
23:51
round five again we'll chain three and then we'll work one double crochet into
23:55
the next stitch. So there's one double crochet and I will work two into the
24:01
following stitch. So there's one and two into the same stitch. Now let's work one
24:07
double crochet into the next two stitches. So there's one and then work one more
24:12
into the following stitch. so there's one into that following stitch and now work two into the next
24:20
stitch so there's one and two into the same stitch and we'll repeat that again
24:25
so place one into the next two stitches so there's one double crochet one more
24:31
double crochet into the following and then two double crochets into the very
24:36
last stitch on this round so there's one and two into the very same stitch. Alright so that will be a total of 12
24:51
double crochets and remember to slip stitch into the beginning of the round. For round six we're changing back to dark blue. Remember to chain your three
25:01
and now place one double crochet into the next two stitches. So there's one, and place one more into the following stitch, and now we'll place two
25:16
double crochets into the next stitch. So there's one, and two into the same stitch
25:24
Now place one double crochet into the next three stitches. So go one, two, and there's three, and now place two into the next stitch
25:41
So there's one and two into the same stitch and we'll repeat that same pattern
25:47
So in the next three stitches, we just want to place one double crochet
25:55
So there's one, two, and three, and place two into that very last stitch
26:13
There's one, and two into the same stitch. And then remember to slip stitch into the very first chain
26:25
seven, chain three, and remember this counts as your first stitch. Now place one
26:30
double crochet into the next three stitches. So there's one, two, and three
26:45
Now remember that will make four stitches in total. And this next one place two
26:49
double crochets. There's one and two into the same stitch and now we're going to
26:56
place one double crochet into the next four stitches. So there's one and we'll
27:02
just repeat this around two three and four. Now place two into the next stitch
27:17
one and two into the same stitch okay so now I want you to pause the video and
27:25
repeat that pattern one more time so remember to place one double crochet
27:29
into the next three stitches and then place two into the very last stitch and
27:34
you will get a total of 18 double crochets when you're done okay for round
27:39
eight we're going to change back to the light blue color we're going to chain three and we're just going to place one double crochet in each stitch around so
27:46
go ahead and pause the video, double crochet in each stitch around, and I'll meet you back here
27:50
for the next round. Okay, for round nine we're going to chain three, we're going to place one
27:56
double crochet into the next four stitches, which that will make five because of the chain
28:00
and then we'll place two double crochets into the next stitch. So there's one, two, three
28:13
four and I remember that makes five now in the next stitch place two so one and
28:21
two into the same stitch now we're going to continue to repeat that pattern so
28:26
again the pattern is place one double crochet into the next five stitches and
28:31
then two into the next and go ahead and do that all the way around okay we're
28:35
back at round 10 we're going to switch back to the dark blue we're going to chain three and then we're just going to double crochet in each stitch around so
28:42
go ahead and finish up that row and I'll beat you back here for round 11. Okay so
28:48
moving on to round 11 again we'll chain three and then we'll place one double
28:53
crochet to the next five stitches but remember that's going to make six because
28:56
of the chain three and then we'll place two double crochets into the following
29:00
stitch. So there's one, two, three, four, and that's five. Remember that makes six
29:21
because of the chain. Now place two double crochets into the following stitch. Now go ahead and continue to repeat that pattern. Place one double
29:29
crochet into the next six stitches and then two into the following and do that
29:33
two more times. And when you're finished just make sure to have a total of 24
29:37
double crochets. Alright for round 12 we're changing back to light blue we're
29:43
going to chain three and then we're going to place one double crochet into
29:46
the next six stitches which again will make seven because of the chain. So
29:52
there's one, two, three
30:04
four five and this will make six but actually will make seven remember because of the
30:14
chain and then place two into the next stitch so there's one and this will be
30:23
two okay so go ahead and pause the video make sure to place one double crochet
30:27
into the next seven stitches and then two into the next stitch and then just
30:31
repeat that twice okay so for round 13 it's easy again just chain three and
30:37
double crochet in each stitch around pause the video go ahead and do that and
30:42
then I'll meet you back here for the next round just make sure you have 27
30:46
double crochets when you're done okay for round 14 we're switching back to
30:51
dark blue we're going to chain three and then we're going to place one double
30:55
crochet into the next seven stitches which will really be eight because of
30:59
the chain so let's go ahead and do our chain now place one double crochet into
31:04
the next seven stitches so one two
31:19
three four five six now place two into the next stitch so there's one and two into
31:38
the same stitch okay go ahead and pause the video and follow that same pattern
31:42
go ahead and place one double crochet into the next eight stitches and then
31:46
two into the next and repeat that twice make sure to get a total of 30 double
31:51
stitches for round 15 we're just double crocheting in every stitch around so go
31:57
ahead and do that and I'll meet you back here for the next round
32:03
okay for round 16 we changing back to light blue chaining three and then we going to place one double crochet into the next eight stitches so there one two three four
32:28
five six seven and eight now place two into the next double crochet stitch so
32:49
there's one and two into the same stitch so go ahead and pause the video again
32:55
repeat that same pattern around so remember to place one double crochet into
32:59
the next nine stitches and then two into the next and repeat that twice and when
33:03
you're finished you'll have 33 double crochets okay for round 17 again we're
33:08
going to chain three and then we're going to place one double crochet into the next nine stitches which again will make ten because of the chain and then
33:16
we'll place two into the following stitch so there's one There's two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight
33:50
remember this is nine but it actually makes 10 because of the chain and now place two into the
33:57
following stitch okay so now it's time to pause the video remember to follow that same pattern
34:02
make sure to place one double crochet into the next 10 stitches and then two into the next
34:07
and repeat that pattern twice for a total of 36 double crochet stitches okay on round 18 we are
34:14
switching back to dark blue remember to chain three and now we're going to place one double
34:48
eight, nine, ten, and remember that ten makes eleven and now place two into the
35:00
next stitch. So there's one and then two into the same stitch. Okay so remember to
35:07
pause the video here, go ahead and work your next eleven stitches and then place
35:12
two into the following stitch and repeat that pattern twice. And remember when
35:17
you're finished you'll get 39 stitches. Okay round 19 is our easy round again
35:22
we're just going to double crochet in each double crochet stitch around. So
35:27
pause the video here make sure you get 39 double crochet stitches and I'll meet
35:31
you back here for round 20. Round 20 is going to be really easy. All we're going
35:37
to do is switch to the color red, we're going to chain one, and then we're just
35:41
going to single crochet in each stitch around for a total of 39 single crochet
35:45
stitches. So go ahead and pause the video, work those single crochet stitches, and
35:49
I'll meet you back here for round 21. For round 21 we're going to start by
35:54
chaining three and now we're going to work a front post double crochet. So
35:59
instead of working your double crochet like you normally would, this is where
36:03
you normally would insert your hook is right here, but we're not going to do that. We're going to work it around the post instead and go ahead and insert
36:10
your double crochet into that front post. So there's your first front post double
36:17
crochet. Now we're going to enter it into the back post. So I'm first going to
36:21
show you where the back post is so you can see where that's located. And now
36:25
let's go ahead and double crochet into that back post. So there you go. So now
36:31
we just going to work those front and back post stitches all the way around So go ahead and work another front post double crochet and now work a back post double crochet So pause the video now and work those
36:44
front post and back post double crochet stitches. You should get 39 double crochets when you're done
36:49
and I'll meet you back here to finish off. Okay to finish off go ahead and make a slip stitch
36:54
into your first double crochet to join. and now go ahead and cut your yarn leaving it long enough so that we can
37:02
stitch it in and now pull that strand of yarn through the loop on your hook. So I
37:06
would recommend using that yarn end to sew the hat onto your snowman but if you
37:10
don't have a long enough yarn strand just go ahead and grab a new strand of
37:14
yarn and make sure it's long enough so that you can stitch the hat onto the snowman's head. Okay so now I'm just going to stitch the hat onto the head
37:21
and I'm just going to weave in and out through the stitches
37:26
Because my hat stands straight up and I'd rather it be leaning over, I'm going to stitch
37:44
the middle of the hat down by stitching it to the side of the hat and the snowman
37:49
That way it won't be sticking straight up. To attach the pom pom I'm using some red thread and a thread needle and I'm using the thread
38:05
to attach the pom pom and the bottom of the hat together. So I'm just going to weave in and out of the pom pom and the bottom of the hat
38:26
So to finish him, I just took some black yarn and stitched a little mouth and a little eyebrow above his eye
38:32
And then I attached some white yarn to his head underneath his hat and chain 20
38:37
And then I reattached the chain back to his head. And that is it, guys. He's finally done
38:43
So I hope you enjoyed making him with me. And I will be back again to crochet more with you next time
