Painting Daisy In a Milk Bottle by Euan Uglow
I decided to paint 'Painting Daisy In a Milk Bottle by Euan Uglow' for a college project. This is my first time using oil paints, my first time painting a still life, and my first time painting on a canvas.
I have painted in the past, but as anyone who has seen those will tell you, they look like a 5-year-old did them.
I am really pleased with how this painting turned out actually, as I thought it was going to go terrible in the end, but it turned out pretty well if you ask me.
Super excited to get on to the next bit of artwork I can do, and I look forward to sharing it with you.
I hope to be doing more paintings in the future, as it is an art medium I have always loved the style and look of, but I ave never been able to paint successfully in the past, but I had a good feeling about this one.
This painting, I painted over the course of one weekend, with 20 hours of working time on this painting (not including the drying times).
Please do note, that this painting was originally painted by Euan Uglow, and all copyright goes to him and his artwork. As part of the college assignment, we had to choose one of his paintings to either draw or paint. I was not the biggest fan of a few of the artworks my teacher suggested, as I saw them as too simplistic, and possibly boing to draw/paint, so I decided to challenge myself with the one painting I found super appealing, and I thought would be an awesome challenge as my first-time oil painting to complete in one weekend; and I am so happy I didn't bite off more than I could chew.
After all, the whole point of college is to push yourself, and have a challenge, even if it doesn't turn out as a brilliant work of art, who really cares, just so long as you tried and did your best; and that is exactly what I did, I will try my hand at anything I find intriguing or interesting, and either way, it's an experience to do it, and have a go.
I painting this with acrylic paints as my base layer, and to block in the colours, and then went over everything with oil paints to try and get that old effect of the painting, and try to get the original style in there more. Absolutely loved painting this.
