Welcome to another crochet tutorial with CozyRosieUK. Today I'm going to be showing you how to make this

autumnal ribbed ear warmer. So this is created using working into the back loops only. You create

the ribbing by working into the back loops of your stitches and it gives that lovely ribbing effect

and then we're going to make a little separate band that we're going to sew on at the end

So the yarn that we're going to be using is my absolute favourite. It's by Sirdar and it is called Jewel Spun

So it comes in about six different shades. This is one of my favourites. I haven't started this ball yet

not going to lie so you get a full 200 grams which is quite a large ball of wool and it's 500 meters

I think is kind of really important. So alongside your jaw spun from Sirdar you're also going to need

a five and a half millimeter crochet hook, a pair of scissors as always, a darning needle so that we

can sew everything up and this time I'm going to recommend if you have some or a piece of wool

get some stitch markers so that we can mark the ends and the beginnings of our row. It's

going to make things, well just the beginning actually because we're going to be working in the round, it's just going to make things a lot easier for you to find where it starts and where

So with your 5.5mm crochet hook we're going to start by making a slipknot

So with your working yarn in your right hand bring a loop over the front, drop that working

yarn behind and just pull that through to create your slipknot. Pop that onto your hook and tighten by pulling the working yarn and then we're going to start

by making a chain. So the chain we're going to make is a total of 77 chains, okay? So we start

by bringing the yarn over the hook, tilt the hook down and just bring it through that loop on our

hook. Yarn over and just bring it through. So we're going to make a total of 77 chains

That's five. So keep going all the way up until you've made your chain of 77

and then come back and we'll crack on. So I've made my chain of 77

If you wanted to have a count of your chain, I would recommend kind of popping it down on the table

You'll notice there are almost two different sides to our chain. So you've got one side that looks like it's got V's on it

and on the other side you'll see it's got little bumps on it. The easiest way of counting your chain is to either count up one side of your chain or turning it over and counting the bumps

Okay, so you should have a total of 77. And remember, this one on your hook does not count as a chain

So, going into row one, we are going to start by not working into this first chain here, but working into the second chain from the hook

So we're going to start by yarning over because we're going to be doing a half treble crochet into each of these chains along

So that's the UK term for a half treble crochet. The US term for that is a half double crochet

So we're going to yarn over and just insert our hook under that loop, yarn over and bring a loop up

So we should have three loops on our hook. We're going to yarn over and just pull through all three loops on our hook

It does look big, don't worry about that, it'll even out. Then yarn over and pull through all three

But yeah, my top tip is to tilt your work towards you so you can see the top of your stitch

So we're going to work all the way down and then the last stitch that we've already marked

to make our lives easier, we're going to do a little bit something different. So hold there

If you want to, you can grab your other stitch marker just to make your life super easy and just

row. We just pop it through that last stitch or the first stitch that we made so we know where

we're ending our row when we come back the other way. So tilt that work towards you, aim for the

row dips in. So we've already done three of our rows and as I mentioned at the beginning of that

row we need to do a total of 14 rows so we've already done three. So what I would just remember

is before you turn do your chain one, turn your work like a page in the book, remember that your

moveable fabrics and what we going to do is we are literally just going to sew these two ends together So thread your long tail yarn onto your darning needle

and place your ends together, making sure there are no twists or anything in this

And we're literally just going to whip stitch them together. So we're literally just going to go from where the tail end is into the other side

try and get in as close to the corner as possible so they're nice and neat and just literally go back
