It’s official: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will conclude with a fifth and final season—though it won’t be business as usual. After four ten-episode seasons, the show has been given just six episodes for Season 5. Why the change? Paramount+ made the decision in the wake of corporate restructuring and financial pressures, including staff layoffs in mid-2025. While the creators originally thought the story might wrap up after Season 4, they were granted this shorter final chapter in order to properly bridge the gap to The Original Series and honor the promises made to fans.
