hey guys welcome to a brand new video on
0:02
cooking with an a diesel today we'll be
0:04
making some McDonald style aloo tikki
0:07
burger basically crispy potato patties
0:10
coated with some panko breadcrumbs I'm
0:13
gonna be slowing this with some homemade
0:14
buns I'm really excited for this so
0:16
let's get started right now
0:17
now I'm gonna quickly whip up my potato
0:20
mix this is the same recipe that I used
0:23
for my samosa so you can view that
0:26
recipe to see how to make the potato mix
0:28
or go to the link down below and see how
0:30
to make the potatoes and then keep it in
0:32
the fridge or the freezer for about 20
0:35
to 30 minutes and let this chill so now
0:38
we'll be making a breading mixture and
0:39
there are three elements to this the
0:42
flour the batter in the final coating
0:45
and for that we'll be using panko bread
0:47
crumbs I'm using some whole-wheat ones
0:49
and that's what's gonna help make our
0:50
patties nice and crispy some flour for
0:52
dusting and some panko breadcrumbs for a
0:56
final coating with salt adding 1/4 of a
1:00
cup of all-purpose flour followed by two
1:03
tablespoons of cornstarch I don't know
1:07
about two to three teaspoons of veggie
1:10
it's a nice mix now want that oil to be
1:15
evenly distributed it's gonna help make
1:18
our patties really nice and crispy and
1:20
you can into a thick but smooth batter
1:23
my adding in some water a little bit at
1:27
a time so you don't end up with a watery
1:30
so now potato mix is nice and chilled
1:33
you wanna have it completely cooled down
1:36
before you start working and forming it
1:39
this step is what's gonna help make sure
1:41
that the patties don't break apart when
1:43
you start the breading process but get
1:45
about a handful of your potatoes and
1:48
just sort of squeeze and shape and make
1:51
a patty about a quarter to a half of an
1:54
inch thick if you go thicker than that
1:56
then there's a high chance when you
1:58
start eating this is gonna completely
2:00
now just neatly tuck the edges so now
2:05
you'll have a nice even Patty not
2:08
continue the same process for the rest
2:11
of the potato mix and next we're gonna
2:13
reading our patties toss it up in the
2:15
flour does stop XS not dip it and cover
2:24
with your batter be really gentle with
2:29
it now using a spatula transfer this
2:33
onto your panko cover on top this is
2:38
what's gonna help develop that nice
2:40
crust get that in there do the same on
2:46
the other side now heat up your pan on
2:50
medium heat and we're gonna shallow fry
2:53
add in some vegetable oil about one to
2:57
two centimeters foil just let this
3:00
gently heat up from the meanwhile start
3:03
toasting your buns now once your oil is
3:06
hot gently slide in your patties now you
3:15
wanna cook these until all sides are
3:18
nice and golden brown there's nothing to
3:21
cook inside just a potatoes are cooked
3:23
we just want to get a nice crispy crust
3:26
so as you can see here you have this
3:28
really nice golden-brown crust which is
3:31
really gonna make having this burger
3:33
even more fun buns are getting nice and
3:35
toasted this is it guys you're gonna be
3:40
having a delicious burger any time now
3:43
now put these out on a wire rack and if
3:46
you don't have that you can always put
3:47
it on a plate to line with some paper
3:49
towels to absorb any excess oil
3:52
another Selma this nice burger I had
3:55
some of that nice spicy mayo the top bun
3:59
slice of tomato some onions using wet
4:03
onions it goes really well with potatoes
4:05
giving you nice crispy patty you hear
4:10
the Christmas but just like McDonald's
4:13
flip this up upside down that's a
4:17
delicious looking burger I love this
