Hey ladies and gentlemen, this is Carmine Sabia
0:02
for Explain America and we got breaking news from the D.C. courtroom and Judge Tanya Chutkin
0:09
who is presiding over the Jack Smith case against former President Donald Trump
0:16
There's an emergency decision that she just made. Before we get started, please make sure you like
0:21
comment, share, and subscribe. Those little things really help us out and they help our channel continue to grow
0:28
So Judge Tanya Chutkin gave her ruling after the President or the former President's team
0:36
went to her and said, look, we can't respond by Monday. What are they responding about
0:41
Well, on Friday a series of things happened. First, former President Donald Trump made a statement
0:49
on his Truth Social that said, if you go after me, I'm coming after you
0:54
Now this is just speech, this is political speech in my opinion
0:58
He's talking about the deep state, he's talking about super PACs, he's talking about his political opponents
1:03
and he's talking about going after them politically. That's my interpretation of what he said
1:08
Jack Smith had another interpretation. He took it as a threat and he filed for a protective order
1:14
in the courts in D.C. Now originally Judge Tanya Chutkin said, okay, you have till Monday at 5 p.m. to respond
1:23
And by the way, just so we're on the same page, a protective order in this case does not mean
1:29
that he has to stay within a certain amount of feet away from him or it's not that kind
1:33
it's not a restraining order. It's a protective order that's kind of like a gag order
1:38
in that it would prevent him from saying certain things or revealing certain pieces of the case
1:45
and information on his social media platforms, but also at rallies, interviews, things of that nature
1:52
Now Chutkin gave them till Monday at five. So Trump's team came back and they said
1:57
look, we want till Thursday. We wanna try and hammer this out with the prosecution
2:02
and create a list basically of what they don't want said and what we can agree to and maybe what we won't agree to
2:09
And then if worse comes to worse, we'll have a hearing. So Monday to Thursday, not a really big deal, right
2:14
Well, to the judge, it was a really big deal because she demanded, no, it will stay the same
2:20
The request was denied. They have to respond by 5 p.m. on Monday
2:25
So somewhere around 24 hours from right now when I'm making this video
2:30
This is just the tip of the iceberg with this judge. This is a very tough judge
2:37
And again, as I've said before, her rulings show that she's probably not a fan
2:41
of former President Trump. She has been the toughest judge on January 6th defendants
2:46
and she was appointed by former President Obama. You wanna talk about a stacked deck
2:51
That's a stacked deck. That's what it looks like. And I believe, again, this is just the tip of the iceberg
2:57
of anti-Trump decisions and rulings she will make in this courtroom. Now, again, Trump said that the judge in New York
3:05
was against him, but that judge has made several rulings in Trump's favor
3:10
So what we pray is that Judge Tanya Chutkin is gonna be a fair arbiter
3:16
You know, if she's tough, fine, but if she's tough for both sides, that's cool
3:20
But if she's just tough for one side, then that's not gonna be cool and this is what Trump is concerned about
3:25
Now, judging by this latest ruling that I thought was not really a big ask
3:29
on the part of the defense, it looks like she's gonna be really, really tough
3:33
on the Trump team. I wanna know what you guys think about it, so let me know in the comments
3:37
Also, please like, share, and subscribe because it really helps us out. Again, I'm Carmine Sabia
