Hey ladies and gentlemen this is Carmine Sabia for Explain America and former
0:04
house speaker for like five minutes Kevin McCarthy. He just got really bad
0:08
news and he could be he could be done. Before we get started please make sure
0:14
you like, comment, share and subscribe. Those little things really help us out
0:18
and they help our channel continue to grow. So just yesterday Kevin McCarthy
0:23
was accused of hitting a fellow lawmaker Tim Burchett, a Republican, one of the
0:28
ones who voted for him to be removed as speaker. Now if you watched our video
0:33
yesterday the lawmaker described the attack he called the attack by Kevin
0:38
McCarthy. Later on in the evening a reporter who was present confirmed what
0:42
she witnessed to CNN and according to her it looked like it was McCarthy who
0:48
intentionally elbowed Tim Burchett as he was walking in the hallway. And she
0:53
explained why it was unlikely that it was an accident because yes there's a
0:57
narrow hallway but everybody knows to make room for everybody and that's what
1:02
was done when McCarthy was coming by. But McCarthy, well he's facing something
1:07
more serious. Let's take a look. Moments ago former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy spoke and addressed the
1:15
accusations from Congressman Burchett that he elbowed him in the back. Let's
1:19
listen. Not elbowed, I would not hit him in a kidney. HC5, you're all down there right? Not a very big hallway. So I'm walking
1:27
out. You could talk to Bruce Westman because I actually called him after you guys reported something. I said did I hit somebody? Bruce Westman and I were walking out. I guess
1:35
the reporter was interviewing Burchett or something. I guess our shoulders hit
1:39
because Burchett runs up to me and I didn't know what he was talking about. Some reporters asked me. I did not run and hit the guy. I did not kidney punch him. I did
1:45
not shoot anything like that. You didn't shove him. No, we're walking through. You're at
1:50
HC5 right? You guys line up along the way there. It was Bruce Westman and I
1:55
walking out. He must have been interviewing someone. I didn't know it was him or something. I guess our elbows hit as I walked by. I didn't punch anybody. I guess it happened
2:04
because when I was walking back further, I don't see somebody was interviewing there
2:08
talking to me and he comes running up like why did you hit me or something like that
2:13
I said I don't know what you're talking about. I didn't even know something transpired. But reporters are witnesses that it looked like you there was plenty of room for you to
2:19
walk and then you intentionally hit him. There is. Okay, not a place. Show me a
2:23
reporter who saw that. Asked. Okay, well, ask Bruce Westerman. No, I did not go up
2:29
If I hit if I would hit somebody, they would know I hit him. He said he said he said he
2:34
was in pain that you hit him so hard. Come on now. That's awful
2:40
Matt Katzinger wrote that you pushed him twice while he was in Congress in the chamber
2:47
When have I pushed him? Katzinger said he was in the back railing once and you elbowed
2:52
him and pushed him. She said Gates. Katzinger. No, I don't know. I don't know about Katzinger
2:56
Congressman Gates, though, is filing or committing submitting some plaint to the
3:01
ethics committee over this this issue. Do you have any response to Congressman Gates
3:06
No, I think ethics is a good place for Gates to be. So I mean, Bertrand said that you're the kind of guy, this is his words
3:15
as a kid would throw a rock and then go hide under his mom's skirt. That was his exact words
3:21
What's your response to that? It's just bad luck between you and Bertrand
3:26
Now, you see, he's as arrogant as ever, but an ethics complaint is a legitimately big deal
3:31
You know, McCarthy has been falling apart since losing the speakership, and it's a shame
3:36
because he was a good lawmaker and, you know, a staunch conservative, a Trump guy when
3:42
it benefited him. And now it's just like his whole world has crashed and fallen apart
3:48
and he's he's allowed Matt Gates to literally destroy him. I don't know what's happening with
3:53
him, but he needs to get his head, I don't know, back on straight. I want to know what you guys
3:57
think. Please let me know in the comments. Also, please remember to like, share and subscribe
4:01
It really helps us out. I'm Carmine Sabia. This is Explain America. We love you guys
