hey ladies and gentlemen this is carmind
0:01
Savia for explain America and how would
0:04
you feel about Elon Musk as the next
0:06
speaker of the house could happen before
0:10
we get started please make sure you like

0:14

0:29
free it really helps us out I'm going to
0:31
start right off the bat you don't have
0:34
to be a member of
0:35
Congress to be the speaker of the house
0:38
you could be the speaker of the house I
0:40
can be the Speaker of the House anybody
0:42
can be the speaker of the house it's
0:43
kind of wild right that you don't have
0:46
to actually be elected by the people to
0:48
be the speaker of the house it's kind of
0:50
one of those little quirks in our in our
0:52
constitution but you don't you don't
0:54
have to be elected as a
0:56
representative I like Mike Johnson I
0:58
think he made a horrible deal here on
1:01
this continuing resolution disastrous
1:04
should it cost him his job maybe maybe I
1:07
I you know I'm I'm taking I'm I'm with
1:09
Trump with president-elect Trump on the
1:10
wait and see approach this was a really
1:13
hard deal and Democrats are touting it
1:16
from the rooftops it was bipartisan it
1:18
was bipartisan it stunk it stunk 1,500
1:22
Pages for something that shouldn't break
1:23
90 Pages you don't need that many pages
1:26
for a continuing resolution you put a
1:28
bunch of of nonsense sense in it that we
1:31
don't need you put a bunch of tying the
1:35
hands of of Investigations into the
1:38
January 6 Committee in there why you you
1:41
put all these restrictions on all the
1:43
you know mandates and and masks and all
1:45
this other stuff for what what's that
1:48
got to do with funding the government
1:50
give them a clean bill to fund the
1:51
government we'll get it funded but you
1:53
cannot cave in on this kind of stuff
1:56
Elon Musk stop this dead inage track
1:58
from happening and I were a member of
2:00
Congress and and there are some right
2:02
now margorie Taylor green has expressed
2:05
interest in having Elon mus be speaker
2:07
and she's not the only one there's a a
2:10
starting to grow a base here of
2:11
Republicans that are saying Elon Musk
2:13
for speaker I would love it it would
2:16
drive the Democrats insane can you get
2:19
the votes with this thin of a majority I
2:21
don't know I would doubt it I think they
2:24
want one of their own and the fact that
2:26
you wouldn't even get two or three
2:28
Republicans to not vote for him
2:30
tough to believe but possible you have
2:33
to you can't really discount Trump's
2:35
popularity I want you to watch this
2:37
video and let me know what you think in
2:39
the comments that they want to get
2:41
started on
2:42
immediately but again you know Trump is
2:44
made clear he wants a CR with debt
2:46
ceiling attached to it I want to go back
2:48
to musk and I just would like to to
2:50
follow up on that question what what you
2:52
think about the influence he he appears
2:55
to be having here margorie Taylor green
2:57
just tweeted that she'd be open to
2:59
supporting Elon Musk for Speaker of the
3:01
House your
3:04
reaction I don't tell the house what to
3:06
do I'm not sure anybody can I'm sure
3:09
with 435 members over there you're going
3:11
to hear lots of different opinions
3:13
that's the way the founding fathers
3:14
wanted it in the Senate we take what
3:16
they send us and we do the best to make
3:18
it so it's actually viable and and put
3:20
it into law but with regard to
3:22
everybody's opinion everybody over there
3:24
is entitled to their own opinion and I'm
3:25
sure there'll be 434 other opinions
3:28
expressed as well
3:30
so the the reality is right now Senator
3:33
though is that the government will shut
3:34
down Friday at midnight if something
3:36
isn't passed is this 11 hour 11th Hour
3:39
chaos a preview of what's to come over
3:41
the next four years look I I think once
3:44
we get a clean slate put together I I
3:46
think we can get ahead of the game for
3:47
the first time in years I know that
3:50
members of the Senate on both sides of
3:51
the aisle want to get back to regular
3:53
order they want to be able to go back
3:56
home and to say look we're getting our
3:57
work done we're getting it done on time
3:59
it only Works towards the leadership's
4:01
advantage when we run into a Jam at the
4:03
very end of the year where they turn out
4:04
a 1500 page bill and we don't get a
4:06
chance to see it or comment until we get
4:08
an up or down vote on it we can't do
4:10
that anymore we've been saying that uh
4:13
unfortunately it works better for a
4:15
leader if they can put their own pieces
4:17
into it and if they have a chance to
4:18
craft what they want to get into it and
4:20
that is extremely frustrating for the
4:22
vast majority of the members of the
4:24
Senate I suspect for the house it was
4:26
very frustrating as well so yeah I know
4:28
that was the best they could do at the
4:29
time they were working among the
4:30
leadership to to craft something that
4:32
could get through it's better if we
4:34
start out with a clean slate and we get
4:36
our work done on time this next year
4:38
that's our goal that's what we want
4:39
Senator th to be able to do we want him
4:41
to be able to go back in and lay out the
4:43
plans we think that's a great approach
4:45
to bring the Committees back in get the
4:47
Committees working and get something to
4:49
the floor of the Senate where it can be
4:50
debated I think that's what the majority
4:52
of the members really want to have
4:53
happen all right Senator Mike Browns
4:55
