So this union boss was interviewed by Jake Tapper hours after Senator Mullen, a Republican, who was also a cage fighter, a former cage fighter, challenged him to a fight
0:34
Now this feud between these two men has been ongoing for a while. It's been brewing and a lot of it involves what this union leader was tweeting
0:42
So he went on CNN thinking it would be a friendly playground for him to just take shots at the Republican senator
0:50
But that's not what happened when he faced Jake Tapper. Let's take a look. All these shenanigans
0:55
Thanks so much. But let's talk about these shenanigans. Sean O'Brien, president of that union, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, is here
1:04
And Sean, I have to say, I'm sure you're plenty strong, but Mark Wayne Mullen is a former professional MMA fighter
1:13
What went through your mind when he basically challenged you to a physical fight during a Senate hearing
1:19
Yeah, you know, what went through my mind was you're one of a hundred of the most powerful people in the country and you're acting like a 12 year old in a schoolyard because you didn't get your way
1:28
I mean, look, he actually has the ability. He's one hundred of the elite to actually effectuate change in this country
1:34
And he's focused on being a bully. You know, we're not going to stand for it. And we definitely were brought up differently
1:39
OK, but can I say you're tweeting like a 12 year old
1:43
I mean, your tweets were you're not a United States senator. OK, and I get that you're tweeting is not the same thing as calling somebody out during the Senate hearing
1:52
But, you know, you know where to find me anyplace, anytime, cowboy. You're making fun of him for not being the tallest senator
1:58
I mean, you represent one point three million workers. Do you really think that tweet there's a tweet right there with your pink circling of the Apple box he's standing on
2:07
Do you really think that that is best serving, best representing the members of the Teamsters union
2:12
His story is compelling, but inaccurate. And in a hearing in March, he started the whole thing by coming into a hearing, looking at us and basically saying to me, I'm not afraid of physical confrontation
2:24
As a matter of fact, I welcome it. So that's what perpetuated the whole incident
2:28
Never knew the man in my life. Never met him. I was testifying in my first Senate hearing
2:32
And that was his first introduction to me. And you were at the hearing today, Bernie Sanders hearing, which is about how unions improve the lives of workers
2:41
Are you afraid that that message was lost because of this? Not at all. I mean, we had some great dialogue in there about issues that affect working people, about organizing
2:51
Now, I want to say I think it's beneath the decorum of a senator to challenge somebody to a fight
2:55
I know most of you are not going to agree with me on that, and that's fine. I think we've gone too far
3:00
People hitting each other, people calling each other names, people talking about getting in a fight in the Senate
3:07
Where are we going? This is not. How do you think this makes America look on the world stage
3:11
This is not the America I was raised in. And as much as the Republicans, and I support them and love them, there's decorum and a sense of, like as Bernie Sanders said to me yesterday, you're a senator
3:24
You're a United States senator. What are you doing? I'm not a fan of it
3:30
But I want to know what you guys think. Maybe you guys like it. Maybe you guys enjoy it. Maybe you guys think this is what's needed
3:34
I've heard that argument from people, too. And I respect that argument. I understand that argument
3:39
I want to know what you guys think in the comments. Please let me know. Also, please remember to like, share and subscribe
