0:28
absolutely free you're really helps us
0:31
out Jimmy Kimmel is your typical liberal
0:35
Hollywood weak
0:38
need I can't use that word but he's not
0:41
a tough guy right he's a he's a beta
0:44
male can I say that he's a beta male and
0:48
he fought tears the day after the
0:51
election fought
0:53
tears because Donald Trump won and he
0:56
said everybody's upset today well well
1:00
Jimmy no those of us who voted for him
1:02
were not upset at all we were thrilled
1:04
and we may have been crying but those
1:05
were tears of
1:07
joy and then they were tears from
1:10
laughing at you crying so there's two
1:13
reasons why we would have cried you know
1:14
joy and laughing at you neither one of
1:17
those things makes us unhappy we're very
1:20
happy so you say everybody was
1:22
devastated no no no everybody you know
1:24
in your little bubble in Hollywood
1:26
California was devastated sure but those
1:30
of us in the real world those of us who
1:33
live life
1:34
normally well we were thrilled that's
1:38
why he W in a landslide Jimmy I don't
1:40
know if you saw the numbers but and you
1:43
know through your veil of Tears maybe it
1:45
was tough to see them but it was massive
1:47
it was a landslide I don't care what
1:49
Lawrence O'Donnell says it was a
1:52
landslide now I'll get into why people
1:55
are saying it's not a landslide they're
1:56
pointing to like Reagan's 49 State
1:58
Victory you're never going to see that
1:59
again this country is too divided you're
2:01
never going to see that again I I I can
2:04
I don't I mean I can't predict the
2:06
future but I me I would love to see it I
2:09
would love to see that kind of unity
2:10
again but I just I don't foresee that
2:13
being a thing anyway Scott Jennings one
2:16
of the few bright spots on CNN he spoke
2:19
about the Jimmy Kimmel thing and well he
2:22
humiliated him and that was also
2:24
hilarious I want you to watch this and
2:26
let me know what you think in the
2:27
comments Mar is the only one who kind of
2:29
came out Mark gets it the rest of I mean
2:32
the rest of these people have become
2:33
pathetic I mean they stopped being
2:34
Comedians and they started be becoming
2:36
political activists I mean Jimmy Kimmel
2:38
out here crying I mean it's pathetic and
2:41
so my my question is if you're going to
2:43
have a late night comedy show at some
2:45
point people might expect it to be funny
2:47
and not just a constant political screed
2:51
against one party and I you know I don't
2:54
I don't know that this activism for four
2:55
more years is sustainable if you're
2:57
going to Market something as comedy but
3:00
the actual product is nothing more than
3:02
sort of lowbrow political ACM represent
3:04
the way a lot of people feel so it would
3:06
actually be interesting if the Trump
3:08
folks could actually make us feel like
3:11
we're not going to take away your rights
3:12
and that doesn't make sense you think it
3:14
doesn't make sense a lot of people think
3:16
that actually makes sense that is the
3:17
way a lot of people that is Their
3:19
audience is that is that their mission
3:21
to be activists and not comedians well
3:24
sometimes the comedian does stop telling
3:26
jokes and say serious things and
3:28
generally a serious real comedian will
3:30
have a serious moment in an hourong set
3:33
where I'm talking to you as a human to
3:34
human and then come in with a joke but
3:37
like yes comedians are absolutely have
3:39
the right to say serious real things
3:41
about the world that has been a part of
3:42
Comedy forever that we can say things
3:44
that the average person wouldn't say
3:46
just one other point during the Biden
3:47
years there was nobody that provided
3:49
more comedy fodder possible than Joe
3:51
Biden I mean he was a walking he was
3:54
absolutely not he was left alone haris
3:58
was left alone they
4:00
nothing they didn't get 10% of what they
4:03
he's too unev he doesn't understand I
4:05
mean he seemed like Gerald Ford the way
4:07
they betl never got Biden right until
4:10
Carvey came in in the last couple of
4:11
weeks the White House correspondence I
4:14
think comedians actually have a
4:15
different problem here which is that I
4:16
think people are a little bit bored of
4:17
Donald Trump in in in both directions
4:20
and I think you you see this in the in
4:21
the in the frankly in the cable news
4:23
ratings sorry you you see it in
4:25
circulation numbers and subscription
4:26
numbers for Publications that are not
4:28
the New York Times I think that the the
4:29
level of sustained interest and not not
4:31
just outrage but just interest in in
4:34
following day-to-day you know who you
4:36
know who who did he fire today that kind
4:38
of stuff I think is a lot lower and I
4:39
think it's not just a problem for news I
4:40
think it is a problem for the late night
4:42
shows you know if the late night shows
4:43
were broadly of interest to people who
4:45
can't stand Donald Trump their ratings
4:46
would be a lot higher than they are
4:47
right now um and so I think that you
4:49
know the part of the you know if if
4:51
you're a comedian who does not do a
4:53
daily show that needs to be keyed to the
4:54
news I think the solution is that you
4:56
are probably less political than than
4:58
comedy has generally been over the last
4:59
few because I think people are exhausted
5:01
people want might also want an escape
5:04
and also uh given that Elon Musk kind of
5:07
lost it about Dana carvey's impression
5:09
of him this weekend it's not going to go
5:11
over too well uh with this new crowd no
5:15
um look
5:19
I'm I don't watch late night uh except
5:22
for except for your that sounded like an
5:25
admission um but but I but I do think
5:28
that even if you're a comedian who
5:29
spends all of your time making fun of
5:31
the world there is a certain seriousness
5:34
with which you have to take this period
5:36
in American history and when a guy like
5:38
Donald Trump comes around and says he
5:40
wants to terminate the Constitution and
5:43
be a dictator on day one nevered yeah
5:45
well he tried to when he tried to
5:46
overturn the last presidential election
5:48
I was there for that so that definitely
5:50
happens he said he would be a dictator
5:51
only on day one like you give whatever
5:54
that comedy only tell in the best of
5:57
time I mean in the best and in the worst
5:59
of times comedy does exceptionally well
6:01
is tell a story about who we are as an
6:03
American people one thing I will add in
6:05
before we we go to Break um is that I
6:07
think that we are actually going to see
6:09
a significant rise in the amount of of
6:11
Comedy that is directed at the left and
6:14
at the Democratic party because comedy
6:16
at its best is about punching up not
6:18
punching down yeah well and I I'd be
6:19
curious to see if some of these sort of
6:21
right-wing comedic Stars which show has
6:24
the has the best R we we got to go
6:25
everyone Stay With Me
