Ladies and gentlemen, Carmine Sabia here for Explain America, and we have a video that should
0:05
end the case against Donald Trump brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg once
0:11
and for all. It is a video he did with Hot 97, which is a woke, progressive radio station in
0:18
the New York City area. Those of us from the area are well aware of this radio station
0:24
Now, he was on a morning show when he was campaigning, campaigning for district attorney
0:30
He was not yet district attorney, not privy to the facts, and the hosts, they wanted to know
0:35
the answer to a very simple question. Are you going to get Donald Trump? I want you to listen
0:42
to Alvin's answer. You got Ebro, that's me. You got Rosenberg, Laura Stiles is on maternity leave
0:48
and we are together with Alvin Bragg today running for Manhattan District Attorney to try to remove
0:56
Cy Vance, I think who Cy's been sitting on the gig for a couple of decades, right Alvin
1:02
He's a decade. He's going on 12 years at the end of his term
1:07
12, 12. So I have my issues with Cy Vance, and there's things that I believe he hasn't done
1:17
well. But one of the things leading into this vote for the Manhattan District Attorney's office
1:23
I know a lot of people are wondering, whoever has this job, are they going to convict Donald Trump
1:33
Look, that is the number one issue we know he's investigating. And what I'll say is I'm the only
1:41
I was the first to announce against Cy Vance. I too have a lot of issues, which is why I decided
1:45
to run. I'm the candidate in the race who has the experience with Donald Trump. I was the chief
1:52
deputy in the Attorney General's office. We sued the Trump administration over 100 times for the
1:59
Muslim travel ban, for family separation at the border, for shenanigans with the census
2:05
So I know how to litigate with him. I also led the team that did the Trump Foundation case
2:11
So I'm ready to go wherever the facts take me and to inherit that case. And I think
2:16
it'd be hard to argue with the fact that that'd be the most important, most high profile case
2:21
And I've seen him up front and seen the lawlessness that he can do. And you believe it should happen
2:27
I believe we have to hold him accountable. I haven't seen all the facts beyond the public
2:32
but I've litigated with him. And so I'm prepared to go where the facts take me once I see them
2:37
and hold them accountable. Where do you fit in as the Manhattan District Attorney versus on the federal level, the
2:48
attorney for the Southern District of New York? Who does what? Exactly. So I was in that office. I was in the public corruption unit in the Southern
2:57
District of New York. So there is sometimes working together. Oftentimes the same case
3:03
could be brought as a federal matter or as a state matter. I'll give you an example
3:08
I did the case that led to the conviction of Malcolm Smith, who was the Senate majority
3:12
leader for bribery. That could have been a state case. It's just that we were, basically
3:17
the Southern District, we've been in the lead. We were using our resources and focusing on
3:22
people using power and abusing power. And if I were Manhattan District Attorney
3:27
I would be focusing on that in a way that that office has not before
3:31
So Alvin, talk to, you know, you said leading you where the facts may lead you with regard to
3:38
dealing with Donald Trump. And from what you know today, and, you know, I know you're being careful
3:46
with your words because you're running for office. So I respect that. But I know as a voter
3:51
and a taxpayer, all I know is some of the things that I've seen would have put me in jail
3:59
So how is it not gonna put someone at his level in jail? Now, I know the answer is he's an old
4:06
white man and he's got a lot of money and he was just coming out of the office of president
4:10
But that doesn't sit well with me as a citizen of the United States and a resident of
4:16
you know, this area. No doubt. You're right. So I'm being careful, not supposed to run for office
4:22
but because every case does have to be judged on its facts and I don't know all the facts, right
4:27
And so I've been doing it for 20 plus years. So I want to be fair. But with that said
4:32
there is a lot that's out there publicly. You know, I look at what the attorney general's
4:38
looking at as a civil case, which could become a criminal case at the Manhattan DA's office
4:42
where on the one hand, he's saying, hey, look, you know, this piece of land is worth a dollar
4:48
when I want to go pay taxes, you know, taxes on it. But when I want to go get a loan
4:53
I want to go get a loan, all of a sudden it's worth a million, right? That's public
4:58
but that's public information that he did that. And so what I'm saying, that's why I'm
5:02
focusing on that. That kind of conduct right there could definitely be the basis for a case. You
5:07
know, I've done a mortgage fraud case. I've gone to trial. You know, I've done a tax fraud case
5:12
That kind of conduct right there is deeply troubling. And that's what I'm thinking about
5:16
when I say, you know, holding him accountable. So, so yeah, there, you are right. We've got
5:21
two standards of justice and Harvey Weinstein, Jeffrey Epstein, being a rich old white man has
5:26
allowed you to fade accountability in Manhattan. That includes Trump and his children, that they
5:31
were engaged in fraud in a SoHo real estate deal, his children. So, so you're right. We've got two
5:37
standards of justice. I grew up in the second standard in Harlem. I know all about, all about
5:42
it. And you're right. I'm being a little careful because I don't want to prejudge. And then I get
5:46
in the office and the first motion I get from the Trump team is I got to recuse myself because I
5:51
prejudged the facts, but you're right. There's a lot out there in the public domain that is so
5:56
troubling. And I say that not just as someone who's watching it, but as someone who's done
6:00
these kinds of cases, someone who's litigated with Donald Trump about fraud. And by the way
6:05
and one, right, we held him accountable in a Trump foundation case. My office did the Trump
6:08
university case. So I've seen a pattern of lawlessness over 20 years. And so I'm inclined
6:14
to believe all I see in the public domain and know that there's, and believe that there's a
6:19
path forward there to make a case. So he says all the right things. He's going to go where the facts
6:24
lead him, but he sends off the dog whistles. He lets you know where he believes the facts will
6:29
lead him because he's already decided where the facts will lead him. He's talked about how
6:34
successfully he's prosecuted the Trump organization and touts his credentials with that. What is he
6:40
saying? I can get Trump. I can get Trump. And you listen to the hosts. They're no better. Of course
6:48
there are no legal scholars. They just want Trump in prison. But what struck me was Alvin
6:53
Bragg, calling Trump, taking a cue from one of the hosts and calling Trump a rich old white man
7:01
that my friends, I promise you, you take any other district attorney
7:07
insert any other race in place of the word white, and you have the case thrown out of court
7:13
immediately. And that guy may lose his job, but it's okay to call Trump a rich old white man
7:20
The double standard obviously is glaring, but I think what it shows is that Bragg had designs
7:26
on Trump from day one. Now let's see if this judge, Judge Marchand does what any first year
7:33
law student would be able to do in this situation and knock this case right out of his courtroom
7:39
