BREAKING: Judge Killed Near Courthouse - Chaotic Scene

So, yesterday, very close to the federal courthouse where he worked, Judge Larry Hicks, who was appointed by former President Bush

was struck and killed by a vehicle in a tragic accident. At least, that we believe is an accident right now

By all accounts, a great judge, a true conservative, somebody who upheld the rule of law

somebody who was kind of a paragon in his community of judicial knowledge

and somebody that a lot of people looked to for advice and counsel

And so this is a very sad day, not only in the legal world, but in the conservative circle as well

Got to turn to this. This is a sad development yesterday. Local District Court judge and former Washoe County DA, Larry Hicks

was tragically killed yesterday afternoon after being hit by a car in South Virginia Street

News 4's Sophie Lincoln has the latest details. According to the Reno Police Department, the driver of the car that hit and killed Larry Hicks

remained on the scene and is cooperating with the department's major accident investigation team

Police do not believe the driver was impaired during the accident. Flags at federal courthouses in the state have been lowered to half-staff in honor of Judge Hicks

and multiple local agencies have released statements honoring his life since the news broke

Hicks was appointed by former President George W. Bush and was sworn in as a U.S. District Court judge in 2001

He was also elected as the Washoe County District Attorney in 1974

and he is the father of the current District Attorney, Chris Hicks

Hicks' family released this statement on his death. It reads in part
