0:10

So McCarthy is the first Speaker in the history of the United States of America to be voted out as Speaker of the House
0:33
It's not the first time a vote like this happened. A vote like this happened in 1910, but it failed
0:39
This vote, however, was successful and Kevin McCarthy was removed. Now, according to the House rules, a new Speaker, Speaker pro temp, is appointed in his place
0:52
That person, Patrick McHenry, Congressman Patrick McHenry, the new Speaker of the House
0:57
at least until there is a vote to elect a new Speaker, because there has to be a Speaker of the House
1:03
Just for the presidential line of succession, there has to be a Speaker of the House
1:08
He was furious in being named the new Speaker, however. Let's take a look at what happened and you'll see what I mean
1:14
He is a McCarthy supporter. Watch how he slams his gavel. This is your new Speaker of the House. Please guys, make sure you like, share and subscribe

I'm Carmine Sabia. This is Explain America. We love you guys. God bless you

Take care everybody and watch this clip. 8B, 3B of Rule 1 is the Honorable Patrick T. McHenry of North Carolina
1:38
Signed sincerely, Kevin F. McCumber, Acting Clerk. Pursuant to Clause 8B, 3 of Rule 1, I will now act as Speaker pro tem
1:49
The Chair will inform the members of the House of the following. The office of the Speaker was rendered vacant pursuant to the adoption of House Resolution 757
2:00
Upon a vacancy in the office of Speaker, Clause 8B, 3 of Rule 1 provides that the next member on a list submitted by the Speaker
2:09
pursuant to the rule, acts as Speaker pro tem until the election of a new Speaker
2:15
and bestows the authorities of the office of Speaker upon the Speaker pro tem to the extent necessary and appropriate to that end
2:22
In the opinion of the Chair, prior to proceeding to the election of a Speaker
2:28
it would be prudent to first recess for the relative caucus and conferences to meet and discuss the path forward
2:37
Accordingly, pursuant to Clause 12A of Rule 1, the Chair declares the House in recess subject to the call of the Chair
2:47
An angry gaveling down by the man named as Speaker pro tem, meaning he is the temporary Speaker of the House
3:01
that is Congressman Patrick McHenry, a Republican from North Carolina, a close ally of Kevin McCarthy
3:09
who is no longer the Speaker of the House. Let us go to Manu Raju, who is outside the House chamber
3:17
Manu, a devastating day for former Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who told reporters that the 15 rounds he went through of balloting in January taught him how to govern
3:35
Apparently, not so much. Yeah, he thought he was able to get his various warring factors together
