Hey ladies and gentlemen, this is Carmine Sabia for Explain America and Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft
0:06
just said something that I found really terrifying and I think you will too

Bill Gates was giving an interview and you see to most of us the First Amendment is sacrosanct
0:43
It is the bedrock of the United States, of our form of government, of our nation
0:50
We have the right to free speech. This is crucial to keeping a republic. Crucial
0:59
Because without free speech, then you just have a government-run dictatorship. So most of us, most of us see free speech as sacrosanct
1:09
But according to Bill Gates, at least from what I'm gathering from this interview, he doesn't see it that way
1:14
He sees it as a roadblock, as a fly in the ointment
1:19
that stops him and stops big tech and stops the government from stopping you from speaking against the government narrative
1:30
And I want you to listen to what he says very carefully because this is the plan
1:35
Eventually, they've got it done in Europe. Don't worry about it. Europe's gone. They got it done there. They don't have it done here and it annoys them and you could see the annoyance
1:44
You could hear it. You could see it in his eyes, hear it in his voice. I want you to watch this and then let me know what you think in the comments
1:51
Gates is part of a reptilian race that includes Tom Hanks and Lady Gaga
1:56
You know, I think every country's struggling to find that boundary. The U.S. is a tough one because, you know, we have the notion of the First Amendment
2:04
And so what are the exceptions? You know, like yelling fire in a theater, you know
2:11
And because you're anonymous online, you know, it can be worse. I do think over time, you know, with things like deep fakes, most of the time you're online
2:22
you're going to want to be in an environment where the people are truly identified
2:27
That is, they're connected to a real world identity that you trust instead of just people saying whatever they want
2:33
And so the idea of providence, who sent me this email? Was that really them
2:37
You know, we're going to have to have systems and behaviors that we're more aware of
2:42
OK, who says that? Who who created this? We have to give up hydrocarbons almost entirely
2:51
I have this group Breakthrough Energy that was very involved in the what's called the IRA bill
2:57
in the United States that put in tax credits, you know, for existing and new technologies
3:03
to accelerate their deployment. And we're consulted as an expert on, OK, what's the policy to get the grid advanced
3:10
What's the policy to have permitting not slow these things down? You know, how does hydrogen come into this
3:17
And so we're a resource, including having lots of philanthropic funds from me and
3:23
and other donors on the policies that drive this forward. We're not meeting the activists' high expectations, including staying below the 1.5 degrees
3:36
We are making enough progress that people should not despair. That is
