Hey, ladies and gentlemen, this is Carmine Sabia for Explain America

And just hours after being diagnosed with COVID, things are looking bleak for president Joe Biden

0:35
His allies are turning on him. The media is turning on him. Hollywood's turning on him
0:40
Donors are turning on him. He is a man on an island. He's secluding himself right now from COVID, but he's secluded from the people
0:48
that have supported him his whole career. See, what's at stake here is his legacy
0:52
And let me explain it to you. Joe Biden is a hero to the Democrats right now
0:57
He's the man who got rid of Donald Trump from the white house. He saved the day according to them
1:03
But now if he stays on and president Trump cleans his clock in a presidential
1:10
landslide, or even if he wins by one electoral vote, if Trump defeats him
1:16
everything Joe Biden did for his entire career will be wiped out
1:21
No Democrat will remember any of it. Not his presidency, not his time in the Senate, nothing
1:27
Will be remembered except that he stayed on too long and cost them the white
1:32
house to the guy that they revile, that the guy that they despise, and
1:38
they'll never forgive him for that. There's people that still don't forgive the late, you know, justice Ruth Bader
1:43
Ginsburg for staying on too long. Joe Biden, all the things that he's done, he'll be the Bill Buckner of politics
1:54
If you don't know who Bill Buckner is, had a great career for the Red Sox, was a star on their team
1:58
They loved him. He missed one ball in the world series, which eventually led to the
2:04
Mets defeating the Red Sox. And that's the only thing the Red Sox fans remember him for
2:09
Well, Joe Biden will be the Bill Buckner of politics to the Democrats. If he does the same thing
2:16
I want you to watch this report about how bleak it actually is from CNN
2:21
And then I want you to leave me your notes in the comments. What you think about it. You're alive in the CNN newsroom
2:28
I'm Jim Acosta in Washington. We begin the hour with Donald Trump seizing the spotlight at the Republican
2:33
convention while president Biden is grappling with calls to exit the race for
2:37
the white house. Right now, the president is isolating at his house in Delaware after his COVID diagnosis
2:44
Pressure is mounting on him this morning to step aside in favor of another
2:48
democratic candidate to face Trump in November. A senior Biden official told me things are looking bleak inside the campaign
2:55
after reports surfaced that top Democratic lawmakers are leaning on the president to get out of the race
3:01
A separate source close to the president told me Biden is quote, listening, but
3:05
the source added that the president feels like he is legally the nominee of the party after winning the Democratic primary
3:11
Still another top DNC official said it seems more and more like a change could
3:15
happen on the ticket. Meanwhile, in Milwaukee, the GOP is uniting at the Republican National
3:20
Convention hours from now, the former president will
