It really helps us out. So in a burning event actually from what I'm understanding, North Carolina gubernatorial
0:38
candidate Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson has been injured in some kind of burning incident
0:46
Apparently, I'll let the news media explain it to you because I have their clip here
0:50
but he's been under a lot lately. A lot of allegations about past posts on certain websites that he says he didn't make
1:01
I'm not here to say anything about that because I don't know if he made them
1:06
You can make all kinds of things up on the internet. Maybe he did make them
1:10
Maybe he didn't make them. I don't know and I will reserve judgment until such time as I know
1:15
And even then, who am I to judge what this man did over a decade ago
1:19
Over maybe a decade, decade and a half, I think. So yeah, a long time
1:27
And now, you know, it just keeps compiling for this guy and now he gets injured
1:33
And this is a Trump back candidate. This is a guy Trump really supports, although we haven't heard anything from Trump about
1:38
him since the allegations. So I am waiting to hear more about what he thinks about that and what's going on there
1:46
That's going to be something to watch. But as for you, I want you to watch this report about what happened to Mr. Robinson
1:54
And I don't know, let me know what you think in the comments of the whole situation
1:57
We have breaking news just into our newsroom that sources close to Mark Robinson, North
2:04
Carolina's current lieutenant governor and the Republican candidate for governor. They're telling Channel 9 that Robinson was hospitalized tonight, that it happened at
2:15
a campaign event in Mount Airy. Now we have full coverage of Helene's aftermath for you tonight
2:21
But we want to begin with this breaking news. I'm Erica Bryant
2:24
And I'm Evan Donovan. In tonight for Scott Wickersham, Channel 9's government reporter Joe Bruno confirmed the
2:29
news about Mark Robinson just within the past few minutes. He joins us now on the phone
2:33
Joe, tell us what you what you've learned. Yeah, a lot of information still to come here
2:40
First of all, our thoughts are with the lieutenant governor. We do hope he is OK
2:44
We have confirmed through a source that he has been hospitalized following an incident
2:49
at a campaign event in Mount Airy. And again, that is coming from a source using that word, an incident at a campaign event
2:58
in Mount Airy. We do know at around five o'clock, he was scheduled to be at the Mayberry truck show
3:06
And at this time, we don't have more information on what exactly that incident is or how he
3:11
is doing. But we do know that he was taken to the hospital and we are awaiting more updates at this hour
3:20
And Joe, again, we do hope that he is going to be OK. But he had some appearances scheduled for tomorrow
3:27
And I guess at this point, all of that is on hold. Or have you heard any more
3:32
Yeah, I do have a message in on that. He has four events scheduled tomorrow, starting at nine in the morning at 801 Southern Kitchen
3:39
and Pancake House in Bermuda Run. We also know he is supposed to stop by a Faith and Freedom Conference in Hickory and
3:47
make an appearance at the Hickory Motor Speedway at eight o'clock. But at this time, we don't know more information about why exactly he's in the hospital, how
3:56
long he will be there and how this will impact the gubernatorial race
4:01
All right. Our Joe Bruno, our government reporter, coming in live with these these new updates from
4:08
sources with the campaign. Joe, we know you'll stay on top of this
