Hey ladies and gentlemen this is Carmine Sabia for Explain America and Judge Juan
0:05
Mershon, the judge in the Alvin Bragg Stormy Daniels Donald Trump hush money
0:09
case just went off in court. Before we get started please make sure you like
0:15
comment, share and subscribe. Those little things really help us out and they help
0:20
our channel continue to grow. Judge Juan Mershon was furious, furious on Thursday
0:27
when all the people involved in the case got into the courtroom and the
0:31
media was there with them. He went off on the media. You see he just had to let
0:37
one juror get dismissed because she said look there's identifying facts about me
0:42
on the internet and people are coming to me and they're saying hey look we think
0:47
it's you, is it you, are you on the jury, family and friends. Being on a jury like
0:51
this is dangerous because no matter who wins the case you're gonna have a lot of
0:56
furious people. Now another juror might have to get dismissed for similar
1:03
reasons and the judge told that he went off really went off on on the media said
1:08
use common sense when you're doing your reporting, stop reporting identifiable facts about these people. Again I've said it before and I'll say it again you will
1:17
not see those kind of things here at Explain America. We will not be giving
1:21
anything identifiable about these jurors even if we know it because it's not safe
1:26
And a journalist should know better than to do that. The judge in this case
1:30
and listen I don't agree with Judge Juan Marchand on much but he's a hundred
1:35
percent right here. You can't do that. I want you to watch this breaking report
1:39
on it and then let me know what you think. As always please remember to like, comment, share and subscribe. I'm Carmine Sabia for Explain America. We love you
1:47
guys. God bless you. Take care everybody. Inundated by friends and family asking if she was this juror
1:55
So we don't know why she felt that way or how they knew that about her right? It wasn't necessarily one moment? No she did there was not they didn't go into a
2:03
lot of the details of it. What it ended up boiling down to is that the judge said that you know it can no longer be reported who someone's employer is. Now
2:11
CNN did not identify her employer. Other news outlets did. You know she has she
2:16
was an oncology nurse. There are hundreds of oncology nurses in the city but she
2:21
felt like she her more identity more aspects of her identity were known that
2:26
made her feel uncomfortable. So the rule going forward is the judge said that you
2:31
know reporters can't report where someone works which is appropriate because that does narrow it down some and we are also trying to provide some
2:39
insight so the public knows who is going to be in judgment of the former
2:43
president in the first historic case but not provide too much identity that they
2:47
could be identified because we don't know their names only the lawyers in the
2:52
case know the jurors identities and that is for a reason and we see this in other
2:56
high-profile cases you know it and this certainly is one where there is a lot of
3:01
extra attention and a lot of people really kind of scouring the internet it
3:06
seems to want to know who is on this jury but it is also something that we've
3:11
seen time and again whenever there is a high-profile trial where there is a lot
3:15
of media attention on it. Well there is something to be said about the fact that when you're going into jury duty your colleagues know that you're not
3:21
there likely because you're going into jury duty your family knows that you likely have jury duty so telling the people around you that you're going to
3:28
go down to the courthouse why you're not coming to work and then you're starting
3:32
to see these details trickle out it's going to be hard because even if you're not publishing where somebody works any detail if you're telling people around
3:41
you might lead to them suspecting that you're the jury particularly again we're
3:45
doing this because it's a public service to get out who the jury is to kind of show even when you have Donald Trump saying the jury is completely unfair you
3:52
know showing the other side of that who these people are that believe that they can be fair and unbiased but it is difficult again in a case like this
4:00
It isn't difficult and of course Wolf you
